Climate change, modern slavery, a global pandemic, supply chain challenges, and artificial intelligence are just some of the major issues confronting contemporary organizations and management in 2023. In 2022, the CEO of BlackRock championed ‘stakeholder capitalism’ to respond to these challenges (Fink, 2022). In 2023, Australia’s Federal Treasurer argued we need to embrace ‘values-based capitalism’ in response to these challenges (Chalmers, 2023). In this context, the question becomes:
What should managers and organisations be responsible for?
In this assignment you need to:
- Clearly respond to the above question
- Engage with or draw upon the ideas of Fink and Chalmers (see previous slide)

- Pick one of the following unit topicsto focus your response to the question:

- Corporate Social Responsibility
- Technology and management
- Select one organisation to support your response to the question
- Finally, at the end of your essay you need towrite a 120 word self-reflection on how the essay did or did not change your understanding of the role of management and organisations (the 120 words does not count toward your total word count)
