This assessment is to be completed as a Business Document, using appropriate headings, numbering systems and also table of contents.

TASK/ASSIGNMENT

This is an individual assessment. You are required to select a New Zealand organisation that has shown evidence of innovation in the last five years. This can be innovation in product or service, or  the way that it connects with customers and / or employees. Prepare a business document that describes and shows the application of innovation in the organisation and how this influenced change with both internal and external stakeholders utilising best practice models and academic theories. You are also required to evaluate personal and interpersonal skills and attributes required for effective management of organisational change. The organisation you choose should be approved by your lecturer to ensure that criteria can be covered in an appropriate manner.

Your lecturer must approve the organisation before you can proceed with the assessment. The lecturer will ensure that the chosen organisation meets all the criteria stated above and the required information needed for the assessment are available on the company website.

Any late submission shall be penalised for 10% of the marks for each calendar day. For example, if the submission due day is 25th August 2024 and the submission happens on 27th August 2024, the student will be penalised by deducting 20% of the marks obtained. A prior written approval at least two days in advance must be obtained from the lecturer for any late submission for reasons beyond your control.

Introduction/Overview

Brief overview of the business including background, location, goods and/or services offered, mission / vision and objectives. Describe the intention or purpose of your document.

Innovation and Change in the organisation (LO1) Description of the innovation(s) and change that have occurred, including the source of innovation and change, and evidence of organisational support for the innovation and change process. Evaluate the change management process implemented at your organisation by using one change management model. Also identify what and why your organisation implemented the change and innovation.

Stakeholder involvement(LO1)

Discuss the need to involve stakeholders in the change and innovation processes. Include why you would include them in discussions before, during and after change and innovation processes. You should include internal and external stakeholders. Also include a discussion on assessment of the impact of the innovation(s) and/or change on at least two stakeholders.

Innovation Framework (LO1)

Apply one framework that shows how an organisation can support innovation and/or change.

Contribution to Business Performance and objectives (LO2)

Discuss how the innovation(s) and /or change has contributed to enhanced business performance, with evidence from your research. Discuss the impact of change and innovation on business objectives. This must be supported by a number of evidences from the organisation documents like the annual reports, media evaluation of the impact.

Open the course materials of Week 4 titled Personal and Interpersonal skills, Assessment Week, review the article titled ‘Negotiation Styles’ and decide on your preferred style of Negotiation.

Using the activities of Assertive Quiz, Leadership Style and the course material on Negotiation, and classroom discussions, explain how personal skills (attributes, abilities and technical skills) and interpersonal skills (leadership, relationship building, team building, negotiation, assertiveness and persuasion) contribute to the organisation change and innovation.

For each of the three activities to identify the style you align with. Using your results from the three (3) activities of self?assessment (above) to examine your potential to contribute to the effective management of organisational change. To do this you should:

(a) Discuss (reflect on) your strengths and weaknesses in each of the self?assessments.

(b) Discuss how these would help or hinder your ability to contribute to the effective management of organisational change. (3?4 sentences for each self? assessment)

Your reflection should also identify at least three (3) skills – that you need to develop so you can contribute more effectively to organisational change. Justify your statements and analysis by explaining why you think each of the three (3) identified skills will help you to be a better change manager
