Do objects of adornment influence the way people communicate with each other? Identify two different forms of body adornment and relevant communication theories to explain your ideas.

In most interactions, adornment and appreance are the first non-verbal cause people notice and base on while communicating to others. Naturally, people make conclusions on people based on their appearance whether based on outlooks or based on the way they are deressed. That said, people who are physically attractive are in most cases judged based on the hypothesis of ‘what is beautiful good’ which implies that the outside beauty is synonymous of many internal attributes which range from being liked to intelligence. On the other hand, people who are attractive physically are also considered to be materialistic and vain based on ‘what is beautiful is self-centered’ hypothesis. In that view, adornment and beauty is without its demerits based on the objectification of the people just as Emily puts it. For example, if you wear indecently, you are likely to be judged as a materialist, prostitute or as a morally inupright person. Also, beauty is universal in the eyes of the beholder; the measurements of beauty varies from one person to another. Some of the features that are considered to be universally attractive are facial neotency, koinophilia, body symmetry, face, sexual maturity, dress code, the waist to hip ratio of .70 among women, .90 to 1.0 in men (Taylor & Francis, n.d). According to the cultural studies theory, the preferences for body color, and type are individually and culturally variable and as such humans often assess people with good oral skills as those who appear physically attractive. This theory can further be assessed on the influence of media and its representation of ideologies in the dominant class. Partly, the advent of social media has had far-reaching impacts in our way of life, and dress code has been non-exempt. Today, people tend to copy the dress codes of those they look upto, celebrities, and influencers. This way of life is often generalized with the society expecting all people to follow suit. Indeed, Jayde’s case of bullying follows within the former cliam. If the general society sees you different, they sometimes judge you as retrograde and they will make negative inferences on you. Likewise, this perception that tends to relay beauty and communication can best be explained under the cognition communication theory. Indeed, humans associate beauty with a lot of good as explained under ‘what is beautiful good.’ To many people, individuals who are physically attractive bear almost all the best qualities of human life. Corronspondingly, such people will always be approached with a sense of caution while communicating to them due to the thought intelligence and responsibility people attach to them.

This perception is even more well-thought-out amongst the feminines. Women have a natural preference for magnificence, and elegance; it forms a lot of meaning in their cognition. The stakes that a women will fall for a man based on their appearance are high regardless the man’s behaviour. Given the chance to talk with a physically attractive or nicely dressed man, they will express utmost respect and measure while communicating to them. This cognitive influence well aligns with the adage ‘men fall in love with what they see.’ To many men, the best qualities of an ideal woman are assessed based on their physical appearance, and it is no wonder that most men hunger after physically beautiful women (Van der Linden, 2015). For that reason, people have today understood the significance of physical appearance; this explains why many people make body image investments like cosmetic proceadures involve skin color change, hips, and bum enlargement, and dieting for figure attainment. Adornment signals for example clothing, make up, and perfumes are also deliberately used to project certain images intended to earn respect, and likeability in public. Lastly, other olfactic cues like pheromones can also influence attraction although they are often secreted inadvertently; good body odors and perfumes will easily draw people to interacting with you while a bad body smell will turn off the desire of people to communicate with you in close contact.
