You are required to participate in a role-play activity and write a 700-word proposal addressing a hypothetical problem.
Assessment Description
In this individual assessment, students will be given an opportunity to examine the types of gaming and entertainment activities undertaken in the hospitality and tourism markets more closely. More importantly, students will form an understating of the managerial problems related to technological disruption in the gaming and entertainment industries.
Assessment Instructions
During week 8, your workshop facilitator will form the class into pairs. Once created, you and your partner will undertake the team inventory questionnaire to understand each other's preferred working styles. Attendance is mandatory so that you can a) get acquainted with your partner and b) discuss your team working style by reviewing the team inventory questionnaire results. Your workshop facilitator will provide further guidance on the day of your scheduled class.
During week 9, you and your partner must participate in a 60-minute role-playing activity in which you are to assume the role of dual leadership: one person will take on the role of the entertainment manager, while the other person will take on the role of the venue manager. Your workshop facilitator will provide you with a hypothetical problem at the start of this activity. Once received, you and your partner are required to collaboratively discuss potential solutions based on the hypothetical problem from the chosen role's perspective. Upon the conclusion of the role-playing activity, the pairs must deliver a 5-minute debriefing speech to the workshop facilitator and classmates by outlining the main points of the pair's discussion.
By the beginning of week 10, individually, you are required to submit a 700 word written proposal based on the role-playing activity, in which you must provide three managerial recommendations addressing the problem from your chosen role's perspective. Each recommendation should be supported with relevant sources of information and industry-specific examples that validate what you have proposed. These must be referenced in accordance with Kaplan Harvard Referencing Style. Workshop slides, Wikipedia and other popular sites are not to be used.
