PMBOK Knowledge Area Assessment
Assessment 1:Essay or Report
Note: Assignment 1 could be written in the form of an essay or report. If you adopt a report format, please ensure that you have a clear beginning, middle, and end. E.g., reports also require an introduction, body, and conclusions.
Task:The assessment requires students to:
- Investigate a particular project management topic (for example, managing the project scope, project schedule, cost management) or any other PMBOK knowledge area.
- Report their knowledge in respect to the selected topic by reflecting on the success or failure of a real project.
This assessment task requires the student demonstrate how well they comprehend their chosen PMBOK knowledge area. The student can opt to research their own project or select an external example.

Length and Presentation:
2,300-2,500 words(not including references and appendices)
Format and style
- Assignments are to be structured in an academic style (either essay or report).
- Supporting references are required (max 20), and must formatted using the Harvard Referencing style.
- Font size 12 , line-spacing 1.5 to 2.
- The assignment must include a title page showing your name and ID number.
- Assignments must be prepared as a single document in Microsoft Word format.
Some things to consider to ensure a high quality essay.
- Originality and creative thought (please ensure an originality score on Turnitin below 10%)
- Research up-to-date with topic (use a range of academic and non-academic resources 10 20 references)
- Introduce the case study (real life project) briefly
- Discuss the importance of the selected topic in project management
- Explain the success or failure of the case study with regard to the selected topic
- Clarity of expression, logical planning and sequence
- Quality in the overall presentation.
