Information for students
Knowledge questions are designed to help you demonstrate the knowledge which you have acquired during the learning phase of this unit. Ensure that you:
- review the advice to students regarding answering knowledge questions in the Business Works Student User Guide
- comply with the due date for assessment which your assessor will provide
- adhere with your RTOs submission guidelines
- answer all questions completely and correctly
- submit work which is original and, where necessary, properly referenced
- submit a completed cover sheet with your work
- avoid sharing your answers with other students.

Refer to the appendix for information on: where this task should be completed the maximum time allowed for completing this assessment task whether or not this task is open-book. Note: You must complete and submit an assessment cover sheet with your work. A template is provided in Appendix C of the Student User Guide. However, if your RTO has provided you with an assessment cover sheet, please ensure that you use that. |

- Explain how an organisations policies and procedures for an emergency situation such as a fire can support workplace health and safety.
- Provide an example of how an organisational policy and procedure can support incident investigations for a notifiable incident?
- Provide three examples of WHS reporting requirements that may be part of an organisations policies and procedures.
- Explain a procedure that could be used for identifying hazards in the workplace, using an example to illustrate your answer.
- Briefly explain how you can conduct a risk assessment.
- How can a risk management policy support an organisation with identifying and controlling risks?
- Using the following table, outline how you can use the hierarchy of control to assess and control risk:

- This question is based on the college you are studying this course with and requires you to have access to:
- WHS policy related to risk management, fire, emergencies and evacuation procedures.
- at least one Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for something at your college e.g. photocopy machine.

Outline the WHS legislation including the Act and regulations relevant to where your college is located and any licencing requirements. |
