After the completion of Foundation, Core and Specialization modules, students will have the option to choose their capstone project and write a Research Paper on any specific topic related to Education/Specialization Subject. (5000 words) 

The research paper will allow students to demonstrate their knowledge of theory and provide key insight into the practical application of that theory. The rationale behind the Capstone Project is for the student to develop a more complete understanding of the specific topical area that they have chosen and integrate the theoretical knowledge into practice in real-life situations. Although how they can convey the information is up to them, however, they must remember that the paper will be graded on content, style, grammar, writing ability, and thoroughness of research. So, it is advisable to follow the instruction detailed below. 

Research Paper on any specific topic related to Education or your subject 

Objectives of this module 

The learners will be able to: - 

  1. Define a clear research question
  2. Design a research plan
  3. Collect appropriate data and information 
  4. Articulate the methods to be applied 
  5. Explore the research topic 
  6. Measure and document the findings 
  7. Deconstruct and analyse the findings 
  8. Achieve the milestones 

You may choose any topic based on Education or your Specialization paper. Please read and follow the research guidelines. All work is expected to be your own! 

Font - Times New Roman 12 and writing should be double-spaced. Fancy fonts should be avoided. There should be a margin of 50mm on the left hand and a 25mm margin on the right-hand side of the paper (A4). At the end all papers cited in the text must be found in the References as per APA format. 

The research paper must contain the following: - 

Chapter 1 - Summary 

Chapter 2 - Literature Review 

Chapter 3 - Research Questions 

Chapter 4 - Scope of the Study 

Chapter 5 - Methodology 

Chapter 6 - Results 

Chapter 7 - Conclusion 

Chapter 1 Summary 

Start with a brief summary of your topic. Your summary must have the outline of the research you intend to do containing a clear opening which will organize and support your main idea. You need to put the concrete ideas in the summary which should contain most relevant background information. Try to answer the question - why do you think it is important to study this? (400 words) 

Chapter Literature Review 

This should clearly provide a comprehensive overview of the sources you have explored while researching your topic and to demonstrate to your readers how your research will provide another dimension to the larger field of study. You need to summarize the gist of your review in an organized manner and explain your readers the need for conducting the said research. The review should include a comparison and contrast of different studies highlighting the gaps you intend to work on. (200 words) 

Chapter Research Questions 

Next you need to raise the research questions which will be an essential guide to your research paper. It must pinpoint exactly what you want to find. out and must bring clarity and purpose to your research. The research questions must guide your reading and thinking. The questions must aim to explore your area of research and point to a need for deliberate investigation. (1000 words) 

Chapter 4 Scope of the Study 

In scope of the study you have to explain the extent you will explore your research area and specify the parameters within the study. These parameters must help to shape the direction of each research question you raise. This means that you will have to define what the study is going to cover and what it is focusing on. This will come under the limitations. Generally, the scope of a research paper is followed by its limitations. It is important to define your scope or area of focus. (2000 words) 

Chapter 5 Methodology 

Here you should clearly explain your methodological approach and you should also mention the reasons why you chose a particular approach containing specific methods. E.g. if you are using a questionnaire you must offer the reasons why you are using it and what purpose it will serve. You must explain the relevance of your methodological approach to the overall research design as the methodology needs to align with the subject of the study. If you are using any innovative method then you must share sufficient information regarding the same so that it can be used in future. (500 words) 

Chapter 6 Results 

You must articulate your results in such a way so that it can be viewed from various perspectives. You must be able to break down the core findings of the study derived from the methods applied to gather and analyse information. You must have materials to analyse and explain those sufficiently. This must have systematic description of the main findings in a logical order generally following the order of the Methodology section, highlighting the most relevant results. (500 words) 

Chapter Conclusion 

Your conclusion should be well-constructed and restate your aims and objectives set out in the beginning of the study. Here you summarize your main findings and evidence. Try to clearly express the answers to the research questions you raised and investigated. You can write the conclusion in one paragraph highlighting main key points and one strong take-home message. (400 words)
