Decision Making Techniques for Supply Chain Management Report

Topics: Choose a topic that is relevant to decision-making techniques for supply chain management. Examples of topics include but are not limited to those as follows: a specific type of inventory management model, demand forecasting, the optimal level of shelf availability, and aggregate planning in a supply chain. Besides choosing a topic, you also need to find and discuss the case study of a company engaged with the topic you have selected. The case study needs to be contained in an academic journal or publication such as a published book.
Project report
The project report does not have a predefined format but you must be able to give an answer to the following questions:
- What's the topic you've chosen and what specific issue within that topic What are you focusing on?
- Why the topic is relevant for practitioners and what challenges nowadays do companies face in relation to it? Why is it relevant to deepen the study of that topic?
- What is the extant body of knowledge about the topic you have selected?
- What are the recent trends in academic research associated with the topic?
- What methodologies are the most widely used by the authors of scientific papers to approach the topic?
- How did the case company engage with the topic? What sort of challenges did the company have to confront?
- How (if applicable) did the company obtain tangible benefits from overcoming the challenges?
- What are the lessons learned from the experience of the case study for generating an impact for academics and practitioners?
Marks for the assignment will be given as follows:
- Definition and description of the topic.
- Motivation on how the topic is relevant for practitioners.
- Appropriateness and criticality of the literature review in identifying methodologies and trends.
- Appropriateness and criticality of the discussions on the challenges and benefits for the case company.
- Appropriateness and quality of the synthesized lessons learned.
- Quality of language and presentation of the report produced.
Operative notes
The assignment will be evaluated on the correctness of the formulas used and on the discussion that explains your calculations. Please make sure to describe every step you have done to achieve the final result of each section. Remember to include all the formulas you used with a comment. A detailed marking scale for this assignment is depicted in the following Table.
