Overview

Consider the following scenario.

You are the owner of a LED manufacturing company, that manufactures LED lights for coalmines. Mines order LED lights from you in batches.

When an order is received, it is first sent to the order processing system which checks the ordertype, quantity, and required materials to complete the order. If there are sufficient materials tocomplete the order then it is sent to the manufacturing floor which is fully automated by robots.

As soon as a new order arrives in the queue, the order is broken down into jobs and allocatedto available robots. Robots update their job status to the order tracking system as they areworking. Hence the progress of all manufacturing orders and the estimated order completiontime can be checked at all times.

A robot may work on multiple jobs at a given time.

Robots also monitor themselves and other machines for faults. If a fault is found, it is logged and analert is generated. The effect of such faults on the estimated order completion time needs to betaken into consideration as well.

You want to implement an automated system to manage this process, using microservices. In this task, you will design a microservice model for the above scenario using the Domain-drivendesign (DDD) method.

Task goal

Analyze and design a microservices model for an IIoT scenario.
