Unit Learning Outcomes

All graduates of Curtin University achieve a set of six Graduate Capabilities during their course of study. These inform an employer that, through your studies, you have acquired discipline knowledge and a range of other skills and capabilities which employers would value in a professional setting. Each unit in your course addresses the Graduate Capabilities through a clearly identified set of learning outcomes. They form a vital part in the process referred to as assurance of learning. The learning outcomes notify you of what you are expected to know, understand or be able to do in order to be successful in this unit. Each assessment for this unit is carefully designed to test your knowledge of one or more of the unit learning outcomes. On successfully completing all of the assessments you will have achieved all of these learning outcomes.
Your course has been designed so that on graduating you will have achieved all of Curtin's Graduate Capabilities through the assurance of learning processes in each unit.

Learning Activities

Analytics for Decision Making learning activities have been set up to include before-class, in-class, and homework parts. The before-class work involves a review of the lecture slides, reading the textbook, listening to recordings, and reviewing materials in the unit’s online Blackboard site. The weekly lecture will be presented at a Curtin Bentley venue, livestreamed to watch off campus, and recorded as an iLecture for later playback. In-class Labs each week focus on textbook Problems & Exercises with relevant business data and decision-making scenarios. One of these labs each week is also livestreamed for online use. Homework activities are provided as a MyLabs Homework link in Blackboard, and these activities provide important practice and reflection time. Some of the MyLabs Homework activities make up your Portfolio assessment task and are therefore compulsory (please refer to the Assessments section of this Unit Outline).
Note: It is important for all assessments in Analytics for Decision Making that you access MyLabs in the very first week of semester; it is the MyLabs platform which is used for your Quiz, Portfolio & Exam assessments in this unit. There is a critical self-enrolment process that must be completed before these learning activities and assessments will be accessible for you. You may also need to adjust your Web Browser (eg. Safari, Chrome) settings to allow Popups from Pearson websites. Please carefully check the Welcome Lab slides for this information.
