Every child has a right to get emotional support in their classroom, Hence the need of emotional learning will support children suffering from autism in acquiring and applying skills, knowledge and attitude for developing healthy identities and managing emotions. It will support them in achieving collective and personal goals and showing empathy for others along with establishing and maintaining supportive relationships by making caring and responsible decisions (Berard et al., 2017). Emotional learning needs support in advancing educational excellence and equity for autism children by establishing a learning experience and environment in which every child suffering from autism gets emotional support like other children.

Students suffering from autism might have unique needs with social skills, emotional skills, learning, and communication, and what is tick children might require support for recognising, interpreting, and responding appropriately towards other people’s emotions and receiving emotional support from others. Autistic children experience a wide range of emotions, but the required support for recognising, understanding, and managing their emotions. Emotional learning is a need of autism in which they require everyday interactions to understand and learn about emotions (Ahlers et al., 2017). Emotional learning will help an autistic child in effectively learning things by receiving support from parents, teachers, and schools, will contribute to the full feeling of additional and special needs of learners, and, if it is not addressed effectively, can create barriers towards learning.

Emotional learning is an effective diversity learning need that is based on understanding and empathy, which is also considered a major element of social-emotional learning; hence, it is required to encourage students to accept one another and connect with all their peers regardless of their ability, culture gender, or background (Foreman & Arthur-Kelly, 2017). The awareness related to emotional learning is rapidly increasing in children who have autism as more educational providers and teachers are implementing effective methods to enhance efforts of emotional learning as it helps them in developing their key skills for providing children with a full filling and successful life experience and learning.

Children suffering from autism face difficulties in expressing their emotions, hence the support of emotional diverse learning and improvement of ability will help them in understanding and regulating emotions, thoughts and behaviour in a nurtured and caring environment where every student is receiving emotional support from their teachers.

Understanding how it challenges the child and the family

Most the children initiate emotional development at the birth by expressing the emotions, reading the facial expressions and consistently developing skills of relationship and empathy as they are growing. Children who have autism have a harder time with emotional development, which involves having a tough time understanding their own emotions. The children with autism are not only having a difficult time identifying facial expressions but also displaying those special explanations for matching social expectations Ashman, A. (2014). Children with autism expressions are used rather than not matching what the children are feeling. This condition will become more difficult when they need to interact every day as they cannot understand the meaning of expression and lack of expression.

The need for emotional learning is quite challenging for Children with autism and their families as well. Fear and anger are the two main emotions by which every child faces challenges and emotional aspects are creating a hard time for autistic children to recognise these emotions even if they are growing. With the help of emotional learning, a child who has autism will be able to learn more about emotions, using them, and find coping strategies which work for them (Weissberg, 2019). The family members of children with autism, especially their parents, are facing challenges in mirroring positive emotions and making them understand the significance of empathy. Emotional learning will help autistic child in effectively learning things by receiving support from parents, teachers and family members. However, in most the cases autism creates challenges for family members because of special education services, therapy, high treatment cost and use of assisted devices. The regular struggle related to autistic children has increased the mental and emotional burden of family members and parents, and they also suffer from high-stress levels, depression, and anxiety.

The emotional learning challenges creates many challenges for autistic children as they are not able to address their emotions and recognise special expression by communicating emotions. The families of these children also face challenges in addressing emotional learning, as autistic children have special requirements and require more time to connect emotionally with others. The challenges in recognising facial expressions and communicating with others are creating hindrances in the emotional growth of autistic children as it is difficult for them to struggle with social interaction and communication (Walker & Venker Weidenbenner, 2019). Also, both children and family face communication challenges. As it is the major problem that is compounding anxiety in parents as it is difficult for a parent to see their child in a situation where they are not able to communicate their wants and needs and express their emotions. Emotional learning is the most challenging need in autistic children as they might have trouble recognising their own emotions because they are not able to respond emotionally. For example, sometimes, they might get very angry quickly and from an early age, children who have autism are paying less attention towards other emotional behaviour and facial expressions.

These are some strategies which will help teachers and staff members to make a mainstream classroom and develop an inclusive environment for all the children:

Emotion management-Many times, children act on their emotions by not having a complete understanding of what they are feeling. In particular, autism child is not able to recognise facial expressions and identify other emotions; hence, with the help of emotional teaching, teachers can able to nurture and focus on the emotional management of children's skills, which leads to a Deep understanding of why the feelings and thoughts of a children are processed in a specific way (Roberts & Webster, 2022). It will also help in improving student behaviour and providing them with and chance of taking a pose and thinking about why they might act in such a negative manner. Emotion management is specifically important for children struggling with autism as it will help them understand others' emotion.

Decision making- The education related to emotional learning will help students utilise their emotional knowledge and empathy for making efficient decisions. Instead of just acting impulsively, this will help students equip themselves with skills to think about different situations and decide how they can act in specific situations (Leijen et al., 2021).

Understanding and developing relationships- The teaching staff can help students maintain relationships by entailing communication activities for enhancing negotiation along with resisting negative behaviour. By communicating with vulnerable children effectively, teachers can understand the emotional requirements of a student.

Use of Visual support-Encouraging emotional development in everyday introduction in school will help teachers understand the emotional level of students. Technology emotions, when they occur, teachers and parents can develop emotional learning and students. For example, in a classroom teacher can point out when other students are smiling, showing emotion of happiness, and using visual supports will help children respond better. With a visual support toolkit, teachers can teach other social skills along with understanding expectations (Simón et al., 2021). A game-based learning, considered interactive and visual, will also support features in developing emotional learning in autistic Students. It will help them in recognising and understanding emotions.

Developing a structured environment- Teachers need to focus on developing an environment which is not over-stimulating and allows autistic children to concentrate. By developing a predictable routine in which a picture schedule is used so often child, ren can learn how to connect emotionally and understand the facial expressions of others.
