Exploring Body Systems

Introduction:

Humans, like almost all multicellular organisms, are collections of specialized cells that work  together. These cells arise from a single cell, the zygote, which is formed by the union of an egg  and sperm. The zygote divides and differentiates into more than 200 different types of human  cells. These cells allow you to do everything from lifting a glass, to learning people’s names, to  maintaining your body temperature on a cold day.

At its most basic level, the body is a community of specialized cells that interact with one  another. On a larger scale, all of the organ systems form a type of community regulated by  feedback mechanisms. This interaction among organ systems means that what affects a single  organ system affects the entire body. Each organ system in your body must do its own special  job. But for you to remain healthy, each system also must coordinate with other organ systems  through chemical messages and nerve impulses

Sports have an immense impact on a person’s daily life and health. They do not just give you an  interesting routine but also a healthy body. Getting indulged in physical activities like sports  improves your heart function, reduces the risks of diabetes, controls blood sugar, and lowers  tension and stress levels. It also brings positive energy, discipline, and other commendable  qualities to your life. Playing sports strengthens your body and also improves your muscle  memory and muscle coordination. Primary health care doctors recommend taking part in sports  on a regular basis. There are countless benefits of sports on the different systems of our body.

Select only one body organ system or organ from the below-mentioned examples: 1) circulatory 2) Respiratory 3) Muscular 4) Skeletal. 5) Heart

You can select another organ or organ system that you think will have equal  importance

Your work should reflect your understanding of the topic, copy and paste information  will be traced; if that happens, the project will be rejected and graded with zero.

Biology Procedures and Benchmarks:

  1. The student will choose an organ or an organ system.
  2. The student will compose a 300-500 informative essay for Science News Magazine about  structure, function, and the treatment of two related diseases.
  3. The students will work individually or in a group of two or three students. Face-to-face  students will be paired only with other face-to-face students, and distance learning students will  be paired only with other distance learning students.
  4. Students will create a visual presentation that creatively explains their organ system or organ.
  5. Students may simulate a news report, scientific article, or any other "live report" where  they highlight their chosen organ system’s function.
  6. Videos should be 2-3 minutes long, with students engaging in real-time conversation. Each  student must be on camera and should speak for approximately half of the total presentation.

Biology-PE and Health outline:

1- Write an introduction to explain a background about the selected organ system or organ.

2- Describe the anatomy (structure) and physiology (function) of the selected organ system or  organ.

3- Explain how sport and physical training can affect the functionality of the organ system or  organ.

4- Show different figures that explain how physical training and sport affects the structure and  function of the organ system or organ.
