What impact on the future of Hospitality?
The question might sound futuristic, yet the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly revolutionizing the business-as-usual model of the hospitality industry. It has the potential to disrupt the customer experience as we know it, and could provide powerful tools to help humans in their decision-making processes, which will impact the industrys entire workforce.
The challenge is to ensure that companies integrate AI and frontline service robots in a fair and equitable way. For that, we need to consider several dimensions such as:
- The ethical considerations linked to the use of robots in a service delivery context (replacement, responsibility, trust/safety, privacy/data protection, autonomy, and human cues).
- The customer experience (customer-robot interaction).
- The optimization of robots usage by employees (employee-robot interaction/co-creation with a robot).
Outline of the assessment task - Approach and Requirement:(Part A)
The approach to this task is as follows:
You will research and find more information about the uses of robots within hospitality, and give at least five specific examples from around the world.
- Introduction
- Define what are robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Formulate and include a thesis statement, summarizing the relationship between robots and AI in the hospitality Industry.
- Evaluate the use of Robots within the hospitality Industry
- Advantages and disadvantages of Robots vs Humans.
- Explain at least 5 examples of how to use AI within the Hospitality Industry.
- Explore and comment on new hotel trends due to the Covid pandemic
- Provide specific and realistic solution(s) or changes needed.
- Explain why this solution was chosen and how it was implemented.
- Identify and discuss the future trends (opportunities) in the hospitality Industry
- Consider tourism marketing to see a positive and improved change that will enhance the tourists overall experience due to the application of AI and Robotics.
- b. Consider what skill sets are required by the workforce to benefit from these opportunities.
Part B Task Description:
Assessment B: Response Discussion Forum
An online forum provides the opportunity for students to comment and respond to each others writing. It creates a virtual classroom discussion and gives students who are not able to talk in a classroom setting an opportunity to voice their opinion. Some students also prefer to formulate and structure their thoughts in a writing format.

Write an executive summary, of at least 150 words, of your report from Part 3A. This summary must be relevant and reflective of academic critical thinking.
As the executive summary will be the topic of your discussion forum, you need to develop a thesis, argument or question in order to attract some form of response from other students.

Response Discussion
The main objective of a discussion forum is for you to comment on other students topics. You are required to comment on at least 5 students discussion forum.
In order for you to receive an appropriate response from your peers, you are required to make meaningful academic comments, of at least 50 words, by first reading their topics insightfully and asking relevant questions in order to invoke an appropriate response.
