Chapter 1: Introduction

Islamic prayers have been assumed to produce spiritual energy that has created a lot of psychological benefits such as reduced stress levels and improvement in subjective well-being and interpersonal relationship and sensitivity. Islamic prayer has been integrated in the past to be able to transform, mobilize and invigorate processes of psychotherapy. Research shows that Islamic prayers by Muslims contribute to spiritual energy which has been transformed into some therapeutic interventions.

Literature Review

Researchers have proven that the integration of Islamic prayers has been able to invigorate and mobilize specific therapeutic processes therefore enhancing traditional psychotherapies. Muslims are obligated to perform ritual prayers five times a day (Aghababaei & Tabik, 2022). The regular schedules of prayers have instilled a lot of discipline and this has appreciated the religious value of the Muslims. Besides that, the Muslims have also cultivated the habit of remaining disciplined and valuing time (Chamsi-Pasha & Chamsi-Pasha, 2021). Other advantages of Islamic prayers that were attributed to hygiene are abolition activities such as washing the hands, face, arms, mouth and feet.The daily rituals which are uniform in body and spirit are a minimum requirement for Muslims. The worshipers are also required to recite certain prayers from the Quran which includes seven verses which stress that God is powerful and should be adored. Islamic prayers also consist ofduaa which are mainly meant to ask for forgiveness and strength from God (Mahdi, 2021). Through such prayers, most of the Muslims have been able to seek guidance and wisdom from God therefore helping them in their daily processes of decision making. Tasbih is also another form of prayer that is done ritually by the Muslims and it is aimed at showing the remembrance of God which is done through recitation, chanting or simply remembering God through the heart. Tabwa is a prayer that is done to ask for forgiveness for the sins of humans (Luu & Hall, 2020). While travelling the Muslims also engage in a prayer called safar for protection and journey mercies while on the road. The prayer is also recited when one safely comes back home. From the few illustrations above it is evident that Islamic prayers remain a very important source of spiritual energy and therefore play a big role in transforming Muslims to be spiritually oriented and focused in life (Tang, Hölzel, & Posner, 2022).

Problem Statement

There are increased cases of mental challenges. A huge gap is observed between religion and psychotherapeutic interventions. Currently, it is possible to invoke religion to therapeutic interventions to improve the overall well-being of the patients.

Relevance and Importanceof the Research
Investigating the importance of Islamic prayer is very important because it already shows how Islamic prayers can be integrated into therapeutic interventions which can be very important in the treatment and overall well-being of patients. This is also very important for future mental health development and research (Ali, Ahmed, Bhatti, & Farooq, 2019).

Chapter 2: Method

The research process has been carried out using qualitative method. This is a method that helps in analyzing videos and academic resources that provide insight in terms of the subject of research. Qualitative analysis is important because it provides a comprehensive description while also borrowing from rich previous research that has been done on the same topic.

Research Design

The research design uses secondary sources. Published journals on the same topic will be identified and used for this research. Various databases will be identified and used to identify the resources. This will be followed by a thematic analysis of the data.

Sample and Procedures

The inclusion criteria will be articles done in the last 2 decades on Islamic prayers and their roles in therapeutic intervention. Selection of the articles will be based on the selection of key terms such as “the role of Islamic prayers in therapeutic intervention”. Screening will be done through various criteria based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria (Baeke, Wils, & Broeckaert, 2022). Informed consent will be obtained from various websites to reproduce and use their materials for the process of research. Ethical considerations will also be made on how to handle the published materials such as storage and discarding the information and whether to make it public or not. Aspects of plagiarism and acknowledging authors' work will be considered.

Measurement

The triangulation process will be used to develop a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. Negative cases and referential adequacy will be used in analyzing the articles to come up with adequate themes that will be used in the data analysis. This will help in improving the reliability and validity of the research process.

Ethical issues

Considering that this research is religious in nature the research process will seek to adhere to the cultural values of the Islamic community. A notice will be given in case views and opinions may go contrary to the views of the audience and insistence is made that the paper is meant for academic purposes and not religious obliterations.

Limitations

One of the limitations of this method of analysis is that it is time-consuming. It is a rigorous approach that is difficult to maintain assess and demonstrate. It is also difficult to consume the whole data. There is no control of the desired population of the study (Bahari & Muzafar, 2019). There are variables in study designs from different sources hence lack of uniformity. Some of the articles are not directly accountable to the research question.

Practical Considerations

Ethical conflicts are not anticipated. However, the language barrier might be a challenge since most of the papers are quoting from the Quran which is written in Arabic. The language barrier is also an observed limitation in this project. The differences in religious values and preferences may also affect the construct validity and reliability of this research. An interpreter will be provided to help in translation to avoid the language barrier.
