Part A

The data that has been given, regarding the UNCC100 course community and self, concentrates on the thought of Catholic Society and its appropriateness to societal problems. The following letter is a piece of creative writing.

Respected Unit Coordinator,

I hope this letter sees you in high spirits and good health. A course that digs into the CST or Catholic Social Thought’s principles and its appropriateness in our lives, as a learner of UNCC100, I felt an urge to contact you. I acknowledged through my learning, the intense effect CST could have in order to address societal issues that invade the society in modern day. CST highlights the interrelation of all persons and the value of acknowledging each individual’s dignity. The ‘Ubuntu’ principles resonate profoundly with me, and prompt the notion of “I am what I am, because of who we are”. This notion is not limited to discussions of philosophy but also maintains the key to discourse on the issues encountered by individuals.

Interpersonal discrimination and pollution of the environment are the two major pressing challenges that CST could assist in tackling. The call for acknowledging individual’s accountability to the general good and community as a complete is essential in discoursing these issues. It encourages taking action, both as a community and as individuals. In the climate change age, we have encountered destructive consequences of the degradation of the environment. Individuals could work collaboratively to a more sustainable globe, by embracing the principles of CST. It has been acknowledged that today’s actions could impact the future generation’s well-being. Every person needs to respect and care for the common home, not as a sheer resource but as an entrusted gift to us.

Interpersonal bias constantly divides individuals based on race, gender, and religion, and scars society. CST calls for acknowledging each individual’s dignity, regardless of their background. It questions us to encounter discrimination, as active agents for modification rather than passive observers. Together human race could disassemble the limitations that distinguish and promote a community where each person is handled with compassion and respect. As a student on this route, I am devoted to seeking the principles of CST within my professional and personal life. I viewed that these principles give a guideline toward a more inclusive globe. UNCC100 has extended my vision to the ability of Catholic Social Thought in order to discourse the societal issues that burden the globe. I hope that this letter acts as evidence of the significance and relevance of this course in forming my viewpoints and actions.

Thank you for reading this letter, by spending your valuable time. I look forward to participating in meaningful collaborations and discussions to make a positive effect on the society.

Thanks and Regards

Artist Statement

  1. Inspiration: The inspiration beneath my creative assignment originated from the intense effect of UNCC100: Community and Self on my viewpoint of social issues and the collective accountability of us to discourse them. This course reveals the theory of Catholic Social Thought (CST) and the theory of ‘Ubuntu’, emphasizing the interrelation of humanity (Thomas Massaro2023). The understanding of “I am what I am because of who we are” sparked a passion in me to reflect on the serious societal issues of pollution in the environment.
  2. Rationale: Within my creative assignment, I select to describe this stimulation via a letter that demonstrates the reciprocal connection between nature and humanity. The major theme of the letter is the major principles of CST and the major crisis regarding the environment, which incorporates interpersonal prejudice and pollution of the atmosphere.

The discussions of major issues regarding the environment and interpersonal prejudice showcase the dimensions of the different human societies, shedding light on the value of acknowledging each individual's dignity. Reflecting on the optimism that CST suggests in terms of discourse issues of the environment. This creative piece of writing incorporates the reliance, that by adapting the principles of CST, individuals could work collaboratively in order to promote the atmosphere as well as the human spirit.

However, this creative work acts as a written representation of my reaction to UNCC100 and how it contributes to the societal issues of pollution in the environment. As per Chao et al. (2023), it fosters spectators to reflect on the collaborative accountability for the ordinary good and the possibility for positive modification while we acknowledge our interrelation with each other and the globe.

Part C

Introduction:

In the interconnected world of the modern day, which is changing quickly, societal issues are prevalent, which is impacting individuals and communities on a scale of worldwide. One of the main crises that require instantaneous attention is the pollution of the environment. This study investigates the connection between the key principles of the CST or the thoughts of Catholic Society. The societal crisis which has been chosen by me in order to complete the study is the pollution of the environment and its appropriateness toward my course of the study at ACU. All over the UNCC100: Community and Self, I have achieved a more precise understanding from modules, 3,4, and 5, which have intensified my comprehension of Catholic Social Thought and its use in order to discourse the issues that are contemporaneous. The aim of this essay is to showcase my engagement of myself with these understandings and also their applicability to the issues or crises, which have been selected for me.

  1. Catholic Social Thought Principles:
The principle of CST or Catholic Social Thought holds that every individual is interlinked and is a part of one family which is referred to as the human family. CST suggests emulating Jesus, incorporating the hard public roles that each individual plays as a citizen, member of the community, and consumer. Catholic Social Thought is frequently hinged in terms of principles. The four key foundations of Catholic Social Thought suppress the principles of solidarity, the dignity of humans, the common good, and subsidiarity. It is the basis that is accountable for shaping conscience in terms of assessing the societal framework. On the other hand, it is the criteria of Catholics for cost-effective acuity and direction in terms of the growing present procedure of making policies. The solidarity principle of CST acknowledges others as their sisters and brothers, and they work together actively for their own good. Within the traditions of Catholics, the CST has been implanted, which gives a framework in terms of discourse on the problems of society and fostering the good that is common (Casabianca2022). The module 3 of UNCC100 has familiarized me with the directions of CST, incorporating the common good, the fulfillment of the human individual, and also the solidarity. These key principles form the basis for understanding the appropriateness of CST toward the societal issues or crisis of pollution in the environment. A key principle of CST is the dignity of the human individual, which claims that each individual keeps the worth that is inherent. This principle aids in extending our connection with the environment, acknowledging that the globe also holds the value that is inherent. CST involves individuals admiring the dignity of the environment with the acknowledgment of individuals' joint accountability for their well-being.
I have investigated compassion and empathy in the module 4. which are the most important characteristics of Catholic Social Thought. These grades guide individuals toward caring for our planet Earth and safeguarding it from pollution, as we are compassionate to the despair of future generations if we ignore our responsibilities. The unity has been discussed in the module 5; it sheds light on the interrelation of humanity. Within the context of pollution of the environment, unity prompts us that the pollution within the environment recognizes no burdens; it impacts and hinders the societies and communities in all over the world. CST or Catholic Social Thought challenges individuals in order to stand in unity with those who carry the ignited effects of the pollution, more particularly in communities that are marginalized. This principle drives individuals to discourse about the key causes of pollution and stand up for the justice of the environment.
  2. Environmental Pollution as the Chosen Social Crisis:
According to Marek and Jab?o?ski(2021), pollution of the environment is a crucial crisis worldwide with extensive consequences it surrounds the pollution of water, soil, and air and the procreation of the contamination of chemicals and plastic waste as well. The pollution of the environment is harmful to the atmosphere as well and it also threatens the health of the human race, intensifies the modifications of the climate, and disrupts the ecosystems. As a learner within the domain of Environmental Science at ACU, I am eagerly conscious of the necessity in terms of discourse on this crisis regarding environmental pollution.
Pollutions of the environment are in line with the principles of CST on numerous facades. At first, it instantly influences the elegance of the human individuals by threatening their well-being and health. The communities that reside close to the areas that are polluted frequently put up with the more elevated rates of cancer, respiratory disorders, and other relevant health issues, demonstrating the infringement of the dignity that is inherent (Thomson et al. 2020). Secondly, pollution of the environment plays havoc with the common good by staining the atmosphere that is shared by all humans. It destroys the quality of life for the present generation as well as for the future generations, wearing away the very spirit of the common good.
  3. Relevance to My Course of Study:
The course of the study of myself at ACU in the domain of Bachelor of nursing provides me with the skills and knowledge that are necessary features in order to discourse efficiently the pollution of the environment. Therefore, UNCC100 has strengthened the notion that, in order to discourse the issues or crises demand more elevated expertise in technical along with other relevant expertise (Christie et al. 2019). Under the Bachelor of Nursing the course of UNCC100 describes the pollution of the environment and the discrimination of interpersonal; these are the just two major components that humans have to face. The study sheds light on the fact that individuals. It requires a profound devotion to the principles of Catholic Social Thought or in short CST. I could take aside the issues of the environment with an all-inclusive perspective, by combining the principles caught up in my studies.
The principles of the Catholic Social Thought foster me in order to consider not only the aspects of science but also the societal and ethical dimensions of it. As per Bradleyand Brugger (2019), it has prompted individuals to stand up for the sustainability of the environment. It demands a more precise commitment towards the catholic social thought principles. It is not completely an endeavor of technology, but it is an imperative of morality. With an all-inclusive perspective, I could take aside the problems of the environment. With the bachelor degree of nursing in my career of future, whether in research which is conducted in the domain of environment, advocacy, or making the policy. The principles of Catholic Social Thought will direct me in order to foster the dignity, in terms of community, individuals, and environment.
