Capstone Accounting Research Project

This assessment is a part of a capstone accounting research project. The project is divided into three parts, each with different assessment criteria. The marks will depend on how accurately and efficiently the assessment criteria are addressed. Section (a) provides information related to the overall project, and section (b) provides information related to all three parts.

a) Description of the research project

The main objective of this research project is to confirm your ability to conduct research and execute critical steps involved in the research process. The research needs to appraise and evaluate contemporary accounting issues. In this project, you need to identify the explanatory variables of the stock returns of the ASX-listed companies. Stock returns are affected by many fundamental and macroeconomic factors. The research project identifies the significant factors for 10 ASX-listed companies in Australia. The overall assessment involves developing a research question; identify the research aim, objective, and hypothesis. The project also requires developing multivariate regression models, estimating the results, providing systematic analysis, and concluding the study. For empirical research, you need to identify 10 ASX-listed companies and investigate their practices using annual accounting reports and other media reports.

b) Description of the assessment A4

In this third part of the assessment, you need to collect data, estimate the regression models, analyze the results, and provide a conclusion. You need to collect data on macro variables and 10 ASX-listed companies in this case. After collecting the data, you need to convert them into return series and run the regression models. After obtaining the results from the models, you need to analyze the results. While exploring the results, you will mainly focus on interpreting the coefficients, evaluating whether the coefficients are statistically significant, and comparing the results of different variables on the companies. Your conclusion should summarize the complete research reports and link to the answers to the research questions. The word limit for this part of the assessment is 1,500 words.

i. Develop the regression model based on the problem statement.

ii. Description of the variables and the source of the data.

iii. Analysis of the estimated results.

iv. Provide a conclusion of the research.
