Housing policy at the Federal government level has focused largely on encouraging and supporting home ownership through such measures as the first home owners grant, tax incentives for landlords leasing property to tenants in the private rental market and commonwealth rental assistance to people on low incomes.
1.Discuss what you consider to be both, the positive and negative aspects of this approach.
"This agreement may have had an impact during years prior to 2021 and 2022 but it can be clearly seen now that there is very little amount of evidence in regards to affordable housing and financial support for housing. At this time in the general Gold coast area this agreement is not affective."
2.Describe the features of community housing and what you consider to be the benefits for tenants/ clients.

- Historically in Australia, the housing system has been dominated and influenced by the very high rate of home ownership. The emphasis has traditionally been on private ownership and private rental housing policy.
- The National Housing and Homelessness Agreement 2018 was introduced on 1st July 2018, by the federal government.
The objective of this agreement is to contribute to improving access to affordable, safe and sustainable housing across the housing spectrum, including to prevent and address homelessness, and to support social and economic participation.

- Age friendly housing, is a great idea and bringing the elderly closer together in communities would be quite strengthening
- Affordable rental, this is something that is absolutely crucial above all else right now and could cause major turnarounds in many lives.
- Supporting the most vulnerable, this is really important and very beneficial as these people are often gone unnoticed due to the “poor or average lives they live.

- An important quality of being an effective worker in the community services industry is values awareness and the capacity for self-reflection. Provide a short statement in response to each of the following:
It depends on what kind of social housing but in a general social housing setting I automatically assume they are on drugs or they are bogans who have no life and no job.
For the most part I would say that most homeless are in the same spot on the streets for months, which means they have had so much time to get a job and havent so I would say they dont contribute anything to society. But I also sympathise for those who generally are committed to finding housing and obtaining employment
I think my views would greatly impact my clients but by being aware of these biases I can keep them in check when I am going in to meet with these people. Understanding them more and building a rapport may even change my views.
