It involves you reflecting on your schooling and identifying, questioning, and assessing the assumptions that the you had about their knowledge, beliefs, feelings, actions,and perceptions’. You will need to use the course materials to examine your current and previous understanding of school and try to understand the wider context of schooling and take your tentative steps to enveloping your pedagogic creed These are suggestions only and if you follow them you will need to go back through your draft to make sure that what you wrote hangs together and is clear and well structured.

Introduction

- Briefly explain the main idea and direction of the essay and why what you have said is important.

- Provide an overview of the structure and topics that will be covered.

- Sometimes it’s better to write this last, sometimes writing it first helps you plan your ideas.

Week 1 — The needs of the child

-Read Vicki and Than by Pat Thomson and write a portrait of yourself in a similar style

-Research your school using MySchool website and the schools website the school's location, sector, and reputation and how they may have influenced how you “fitted in or not . Reference Thomson.

- Reflect on whether you had opportunities to express your views and opinions to someone in authority

- Suggest what the Commissioner could advocate for based on what mattered to you as a child

- Explain the concept of the virtual backpack and how it helped you succeed or what skills, knowledge, and attitudes were left at the school door

Week 2 — Curriculum Making

* Give examples of the hidden curriculum (what you learned that was not part of the official curriculum) as well as things that were left out (the null curriculum).

* Define your own understanding of curriculum based on your experience, reference Priestly.

* Summarize Biesta's model of schooling and how it relates to your experience of schooling.

* Provide examples of qualification, socialisation, and subjectification in your schooling — ca you come up with other words to describe his three domains that fit more clearly with your ideas of schooling

Week 3 - Orientations

* Discuss the orientation to curriculum that was mainly operating in your primary school and how it influenced your learning

« Provide examples of how you were taught in school, & what teaching methods were used.

+ Analyse how the school's history, traditions, and location influenced the orientation to curriculum

+ Evaluate whether the methods used suited you and how they could have been different

Week 4 - Equity

Compare your access to effective teachers and leaming resources with others

Discuss the impact of teacher quality, resources, and support on my learning

- Analyse the challenges and opportunities of learning in a diverse classroom environment n reflection
