Overview
Assignment 1 (Critique essay) asked you to critique the research process in the context of health care practice. You will now be fully aware of how research is structured and interpreted to apply to your own academic reading and research projects.
In this assessment you will write a literature review. The purpose of a literature review is, to provide a critical written account of the current state of research on a selected topic and,
- Identifies previous scholarly and academic work.
- Contextualises the contribution the literature has made to the body of knowledge. • Identifies new ways to interpret and highlight any gaps in previous research. • Points the way forward for further research.
For this literature review you will focus on two topics:
- Maori holistic healthcare (compulsory)
AND
- *Either
Healthcare in the community OR
The impact of individual lifestyle choices on healthcare services.
*When you have selected one of these broad topics, choose a manageable component. E.g., if you choose individual lifestyle choices, you might want to review literature about obesity or diabetes.
Whatever topics you choose, there will probably be a wide range of literature from different parts of the world. The literature you choose does not have to be from Aotearoa/New Zealand, however, be selective and make sure your choice is relevant to healthcare practice in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
