Now that you have a solid understanding of your building material, you will undertake further research into an element of its performance.
Each student should select two aspects of the performance or behaviour of their building material and prepare an academic paper that discusses the theory and applications (uses) relating to this aspect. One aspect must be related to fire performance of the chosen material. The second aspect can be chosen from any of these aspects: structural, acoustic, thermal, energy efficiency, any environmental aspect or a buildability issue.
Each student should form an opinion on whether the manufacturers’ claims are reasonable.
