Assessment details and instructions

The first coursework assignment (CW1) requires you to write a 1700-word practical report summarizing both research studies conducted during your weekly workshops.

Part 1: Choose one of the two studies you want to write-up as a full 1500-word practical report.

Part 2: You will need to write a 200-word abstract for the second study (the one that you have not done the full report on).

Topic area

The two studies are listed below:

1. The effects of processing fluency on judgment and decision making and
2. The role of anchoring in people’s estimates of value.

Please, choose one topic for Part 1 and the other for Part 2.

You will cover how to write a good research method report in weeks one and two. You will conduct demonstrations of these practicals in weeks three and four (workshops). You will also conduct the required statistical analyses for each practical in weeks five and seven (workshops). You will learn about screening your data, as well as effect size, error, and power in weeks seven (lecture) and eight (workshop). In week 6 (development week) you will receive further assignment support and information on how to write structured abstracts for Part 2. These activities will guide you through completing CW1.
