5.2.1 Assessment 1 Short Research Paper: Literature Review
ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION
Write a literature review that critically appraises the scholarly literature relevant to an assessment task you are completing in another unit this semester. By engaging with a task from another unit (of your choice), ART100 will meaningfully support your enrolment and develop your professional skills. Choosing which task to connect with this project should be done in conjunction with your ART100 tutor or unit coordinator. Ensure you choose an assessment task that will benefit from critical, scholarly research and include a substantive written component (in essay, report or other style).
(Note: if you are not enrolled in another unit this semester, you should determine an essay question in consultation with your tutor.)
This is not the same piece of writing that you will submit for your other unit. Rather, it is a critical evaluation of the scholarly literature that you will make use of when writing that other assessment.
You should use the following question as a guide when writing your literature review, though you may need to adjust this in consultation with the unit coordinator to suit your chosen task:
What are the key arguments in the published literature regarding [insert your chosen topic], and to what degree are these contested?
Your literature review should demonstrate comprehensive understandings of the literature regarding a particular topic. You should:
communicate a clear, evidence-based argument of your own; and
appraise key authors and/or published sources that contribute to understandings of your chosen topic; in order to

identify key themes within that literature and evaluate the degree to which there is contest regarding arguments and/or evidence.

Format: Group (Four Members Maximum)
Every organisation has a reason for being. It may be to lobby for change in society. It may be to bring relief to those in need. In sports, it may be to triumph over others on a playing field. Businesses exist to provide product, services or a combination of these. Though customers vary, circumstances vary, scale varies, (indeed so much varies), all businesses exist to satisfy consumer needs. In this assignment, your group (of no more than 4 participants) is asked to apply creative thought to design a novel product or service (or combination of these) around the theme of the Social Good.
