This task is to be completed and submitted independently.

ASSESSMENT ENVIRONMENT

If you are a part-time or blended delivery student, you are to complete this assessment task in your personal study time. If you are a full-time student, you will have allocated class time as indicated on your course timetable to complete this assessment.

To ensure the best outcome, it is suggested that this assessment task be completed in a reasonably quite room such as a classroom.

CONDITIONS OF ASSESSMENT

You will have a reading time of up to 10 minutes before starting the assessment.

During this time you are allowed to ask the assessor about any questions in the assessment that you do not understand.

You will then have 2 hours to answer the 16 questions. You must attempt all questions. If you cannot complete the assessment in the stated time you may be given more time at the discretion of the assessor. Note this may be a factor in assessing overall competency.

All questions must be answered without any assistance. You cannot use any references, books or course notes. This will be a open book written assessment.

Print clearly and use a pen. Assessment written in pencil may be rejected.

Do not cheat or plagiarise the work of others. Anyone caught cheating will automatically be marked NYC (Not Yet Competent) for this unit. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

When you have completed with this assessment, submit this assessment to your assessor. Your assessor will check your answers after you have finished and ask you to explain anything that is unclear.

GENERAL INFORMATION

For this assessment task, you are required to design and develop two learning programs intended to meet the need for a group of learners.

This assessment task has been split into two parts. They are:

Part A Define the parameters of the learning programs and work within the VET policy framework

Part B Develop the learning program content and design the structure of the learning programs

Part C Review the completed program with your client and adjust your programs as required.

To prepare yourself for this task, you will need to place yourself in the mindset of a qualified trainer and assessor working for a Registered Training Organisation called Compliant Training Solutions PTY LTD.

Compliant Training Solutions PTY LTD is a small, three-person training company that specialises in road transport solutions for small to medium business. Your company is based in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION | PROJECT SCENARIO

This morning, you received an email from a Ms. Georgie Harrison, the Health, Safety and Environment manager from Bobs Building Company. Ms. Harrison wrote you the following email.

CONDITIONS OF THE ASSESSMENT

For this assessment task, you are required to follow the procedures established by Compliant Training Solutions PTY LTD.

PART A

DEFINE THE PARAMETERS OF THE LEARNING PROGRAMS AND WORK WITHIN THE VET POLICY FRAMEWORK

For this part in the design and development process, you will need to access all relevant policies and procedures to assist you in starting the design process.

To gain access to your RTOs policies and procedures, you will need to login in your student portal and download the relevant documents and, if required templates. Alternatively, these documents and template may be available to you via your course folder.

For Part A of this task you will need to demonstrate that you can:

Access any relevant vocational education and training (VET) policies and frameworks, and apply them to the task on hand.

Clarify the purpose and type of the learning programs you intend to create using the information provided to you from Ms. Harrison who is your key stakeholder.

Access and confirm the competency standards, and other training specifications, on which to base the learning program

Identify any changes to the training packages

Identify language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the program

Identify and consider characteristics of the target learner group.

NOTE: If you follow your RTOs policy and procedure you will successfully meet the requirements of this section.

PART B

Develop the learning program content and design the structure of the learning programs

For part B of this assessment task, you will be required to design and develop two learning programs based on the information provided to you from Ms. Harrison email.

To successfully complete this part of your assessment you will need to ensure that you follow the requirements of Compliant Training Solutions PTY LTD policy and procedures.

For Part B of this task you will need to demonstrate that you can:

Identify and document the title of the learning program

Identify and describe the target learner group, and how your program fits with their specific requirements

Identify and document any entry requirements into your learning program

Identify and describe the purpose (goals and objectives) of the program.

Identify and document the target leaners and their characteristics

Identify and document any special needs you learners may have

Document the training package your unit of competency comes from

Document the name, unit code and AQF Level of the unit of competency to be achieved

Identify and document the (Australian Core Skills Framework) ACSF level

Provide an overview of the program content

Identify and document the structure of the content

Research and identify any existing resources/materials available to you

Research and identify any training aids you require

Identify and document the proposed delivery methods

Identify and document the assessment requirements and proposed assessment tasks

Identify and document the learning environment, including any OHS/WHS requirements

Identify and document the timeframe for delivery

Identify the staff required

Identify and document ALL the costs involved in this learning program

Document the scheduling and sequencing of this program ensuring that each session is broken up into manageable segments for quality delivery and document the timeframe for each segment.

Identify and document a risk control plan for the learning program (this may be acknowledged on a separate document (Example: Risk Control Template)

NOTE: If you follow your RTOs policy and procedure and use the indicated templates, you will successfully meet the requirements of this section.

PART C |Review the completed program with your client and adjust your programs as required.

For part C of this assessment task, you will need to submit your learning programs, together with any supporting documents to your client. You are to submit your documents via the student portal submission link.

Be sure to include a covering letter addressed to Ms. Harrison informing her of the documents you are about to supply her. You are to request that she review the documents and get back to you with any proposed changes, feedback or comments. Your letter must indicate that if she is happy with the proposed learning plans, she should send you a return email confirming the acceptance of the programs and grant you permission to move to the next stage of development.

NOTE: Your assessor will play the part of your client for this assessment. Your assessor will be in contact with you in the event that they require you to alter, adjust and change the proposed learning plan.

Depending on the level of detail you provided within your submission, your assessor may or may not request changes. If you do receive a request to alter some information you will need to document this request in your delivery plan as part of the amendments you implement. If you do not receive a request to alter your learning plan, then your assessor will only be in contact with you to provide you with your result for this assessment task.

You are to submit your completed evaluation tool with this assessment document by copying and pasting in the table below.

ASSESSMENT ENVIRONMENT

If you are a blended delivery or part-time student, you will complete this assessment task in your personal study time. Be sure to speak with your student support officer to arrange a suitable time and date whereby your assessor can make themselves available to you to answer any questions you may have.

As this is can be a complex assessment, we recommend making an appointment with your student support officer prior to attempting this assessment task.

If you are a full-time student, your assessment will be conducted in accordance with your class timetable.

REQUIRED EVIDENCE TO DEMONSTRATE COMPETENCE

To successfully complete this assessment task, you will need to demonstrate (through your work) your ability to design and develop two learning program plans in accordance with Compliant Training Solutions PTY LTD policies and procedures.

You will have demonstrated your ability to follow the established procedures by using the required templates provided for this unit.

FEEDBACK AND RE-ATTEMPTS

Your assessor will provide you with verbal or written feedback within 14 days of your submission. If your assessor identifies any incorrect responses throughout your learning plans or finds that you have not completed any of the required sections, you will be given an opportunity to re-attempt this assessment task. The opportunity for second attempt will be presented to you by way of a client response. Your assessor will play the role of your client (Ms. Harrison) and will respond to you with anything that you need to re-address.

PLEASE NOTE: You will only be given one opportunity to re-attempt this assessment. If you are required to re-attempt this assessment task you must wait a minimum of 24 hours before being allowed to re-sit (re-attempt) this task.

Your second attempt must be completed within 7 DAYS of your first attempt. If on your second attempt your work remains incorrect, you will be deemed Not Yet Competent (NYC) and will need to re-enrol into this unit.

Once you have satisfactorily completed this assessment, it will be attached to your portfolio as part of evidence requirements for this unit.

HOW WE INTEND TO CHECK YOUR AUTHENTICITY

As part of the marking process, your assessor will evaluate the authenticity of your work. The authenticity of a students works is assessed in the following ways:

BLENDED DELIVERY, PART-TIME AND FULL-TIME STUDENTS:

Direct Observation This assessment task will be completed in class or in a student support session, your assessor will be able to visually establish if you are completing your own work.

THIS ASSESSMENT SITS WITHIN THE LEVEL 4 AQF CRITERIA

This assessment sits within the AQF Level 4 criteria (Certificate IV). At this level, you will be required to demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge and skills for specialised and/or skilled work and/or further learning.

To be deemed competent in this unit you will need to demonstrate that you have a broad factual, technical and some theoretical knowledge of this subject matter. You will need to demonstrate that you have a broad range of cognitive, technical and communication skills to select and apply a range of methods, tools, materials and information to complete the requirements of this assessment task.

At this level, you will need to apply your knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and limited responsibility in known and changing contexts and within established parameters.
