Alm:

The aim of this assignment task is for you to present evidence-based approaches to care for patients presenting with a specific emergency that demonstrate Integration of knowledge into practice. Poster presentations in professional health settings often aim to communicate research findings or highlight practice ideas. Posters such as these are integral to professional nursing conferences and for some topics are the best method to update clinical staff in shift-working environments.

The goal of your poster presentation is to present the information in a visually appealing manner and with enough detail to enable the audience to understand what is being communicated.

Task description:

There are two parts to this task. You must choose a topic from the course content relevant to your workplace. Part A is a poster that presents a specific topic for education of your colleagues and Part B is a synopsis that will describe the reasons to support your decisions in the poster and provide a foundation level critique of the literature. On your poster and in your synopsis you must clearly articulate the major implications and recommendations for practice for your chosen topic and support this with scholarly literature.

For Part A you need to create a poster.

Content: On your poster you must clearly communicate relevant and current research to support care approaches for your chosen topic. Your poster must display creativity and design consideration to appeal to your audience.

Size: 841mm x 1189 mm (AO size)

Format: Digital (you can display any way you like in your department, but the poster must be created and submitted digitally), single side only. Font size should be no smaller than 28-32 (dependent on your font choice), with heading sizes appropriate to your design choice. This will mean your word count will be somewhere within 700-1000 words. References should appear on the poster

For Part B, you must write a synopsis (1500w)

that explains and analyses the literature you have chosen for your topic and reflects the key concepts you are focusing on in your poster. All aspects of your synopsis must be supported by current practice literature, with a minimum of 12 references is required for this (you may include up to three current relevant textbooks as references). Specific criteria for the synopsis will assess the following:

  • Rational progression of ideas is clear and easy to read
  • Poster was interesting and application to practice clearly outlined for the reader
  • Purpose, significance of the topic to patients/practitioners is clearly identified
  • Synopsis provided accurate and intelligent support for presentation and increased the readers' understanding of the poster content
  • Critical analysis of the literature is evident,/li>

Instructions:

  1. Choose a topic from the course content relevant to common presentations in your Emergency Department (ED) (e.g. toxicology, sports related injuries, cardiac emergencies, etc.). You do not need to confirm this choice with your course convenor unless you need further clarification ofyour topic. You may wish to discuss the course content options with your nurse educator or team leader to decide what is most relevant to your area.
  2. Clearly identify your topic on the poster and in your synopsis.
  3. Part A-Develop an evidence-based poster while planning your explanatory synopsis. The purpose of this poster is to provide education to, or improve the awareness of, emergency department staff about your specific topic and should identify the significance of the topic, major implications and recommendations for practice using relevant and current research to support ideas.
  4. Part B The synopsis will provide an explanation and analysis of the literature you have chosen for your topic and reflect the key concepts you are focusing on in your poster. It should help the reader understand in more depth the issues you have identified in the literature including any gaps in research and practice and a critical approach to why you have made the choices you have in the poster. You may also choose to discuss the educational reasons behind your design of the poster in the synopsis (this should be no more than one to two short paragraphs). 5. You are able to choose the most appropriate form of referencing on your poster (e.g. numbered or footnotes etc...), however, the referencing throughout the synopsis should be presented in APA 7th edition format.
  5. Display the poster in your department or submit to a conference/expo. You have done all this work so please consider sharing this knowledge.
