1 Experiments with tube specimen
The purpose of this experiment is to determine xxx xxxx [1]. There is no need to repeat all the details of the apparatus and experimental method, however, you should give a brief account of the procedure that you are used to measure the strains in each uni-axial strain gauges and rosette gauges. You may use the Figure 1 to illustrate key points. The best way to present the summary of the measured strains is as shown in Table 1. You can adopt various methods to presents the summary of the measured strains. It is vital that all figures and tables must be labelled and cited within the text as shown in this report.

1.1 Normal stress calculation for tube specimen
In this section, you will show the calculation of normal stress for uni-axial strain gauges. You will need to demonstrate, in clear steps, how you have calculated normal stress using the measured strains as well as theoretical calculations. The equations should be clearly typed, numbered and refereed appropriately within the text, see below. You must cite the document where you have sourced the equations for calculations. The results without thesupporting equations or steps will carry no marks. Assuming plane stress conditions (?z = 0) and applying Hooke’s law, the strains are:The equation 1 is used to calculate the normal stress for uni-axial strain gauge location.

1.2 Shear stress calculation for tube specimen
In this section, you will demonstrate the calculation of shear stress for rosette strain gauges. You will also demonstrate how you have calculated the theoretical shear stress at the rosette location. You will have to cite the document either in standard way [2, pp. 13–17] or by using the footnote1 ?xy = 2?c ? (?a + ?b) (2) The equation 2 is used to calculate the shear strain by using the rosette data. Following on, the equation 1 is used to calculate the normal stress by substituting the measured shear strain and Shear modulus.
