Clear links to published works; interprets the data correctly and shows clearly a link between gene therapy/ies and condition(s).
Consider the gene therapy approaches that have been previously used to treat disease in animal models and/or human clinical trials.
Providing information as to what you consider are landmark discoveries in the area; e.g. research that had a major impact on your chosen field, for example an improved gene delivery system that dramatically improved clinical outcome in patients or animal models.
Try and discuss the findings of your literature review by contrasting results of different research e.g., In paper X McGonigle et. al demonstrated Y results or outcome, however these results were in contrast to McDuff et al who showed opposite results.
When comparing research findings, highlight what you perceive as weaknesses or strengths in the work.

If you wish you may compare the gene therapy approaches with other treatment modalities.
You may either cover a broad area in a category (e.g. gene therapy research for cancers) or be more specific in your approach (e.g. gene therapy research for a specific genetic disorder). If you are unsure about your choice of topic, please email it through and I am happy to provide you guidance.
Gene Therapy is an important area in modern medical research providing novel therapeutic approaches to treat disease. Gene therapy can be categorised in terms of viral or non-viral, use of nanomaterials and biomaterials which complex nucleic acids and allow delivery to the host, using an in vivo or ex-vivo approach. In this assessment you should choose one clinical area of gene therapy research for your essay and undertake literature searches for information on the developments, status and challenges on your chosen topic. You can also compare the gene therapy approaches with other treatment modalities.
