Assessment 2 Video presentation (topic Lipids and inflammation)

As detailed in the Learning Guide, each module has three topics for investigation for you to choose from. As part of your learning in this unit, you are required to choose one topic from each module to research further. For this assignment, you are required to take what you have learned from one of those chosen topics and create a video presentation. The presentation should be 5 minutes in duration (+/- 1 min). Specific instructions for uploading your video presentation are available via LMS, where your assignment will be submitted. Important: you are not able to present on the same topic covered in your literature review assignment. You must choose a different module for this presentation. To succeed in this assessment, you need to engage with the learning materials for the unit and remain on schedule. You should choose your topics early, to give yourself plenty of time to work on the assignment. You should also engage with the workshop classes, which will spend considerable time working on this task. Key tips for preparing an effective presentation: 1. Know your audience 2. Tell the audience why they should care 3. Convey your excitement 4. Tell a story 5. Keep it simple You will be assessed on these key criteria: Content (20 marks) Content will be based on your chosen topics, but should be comprehensive and demonstrate thorough research on your topics. You should be confident with the material, and clearly explain the key ideas and issues. You should not simply present the material, but also provide some degree of analysis, as you did for your literature review. Structure (5 marks) Your presentation should be cohesive, consistent and have a logical flow. There is no specific structure required for the presentation, as it will depend on your chosen topics and how you have approached them. You are basically giving a mini-lecture on your chosen topics, so think of good lectures you have attended. Delivery (10 marks) It is expected that the information is clearly delivered to the audience. Make sure you are not simply reading the slides to your audience. Your presentation should be practiced and professional. Ensure that you have clear, readable, engaging slides. Your assessment outcome will be provided to you via LMS, where feedback will be provided. You can request further feedback by contacting the unit coordinator or your laboratory demonstrator. The assessment includes a moderation process to ensure reliable, just, and fair outcomes. Assessment 3 Literature review As detailed in the Learning Guide, each module has three topics for investigation for you to choose from. As part of your learning in this unit, you are required to choose one topic from each module to research further. For one of those chosen topics (i.e., one module only), you are required to summarise your findings in a literature review of 2000 words. A suggested structure for your review can be found below, as can the marking guide. Important: you are not able to present on the same topic covered in your video presentation assignment. You must choose another module for this assignment. To succeed in this assessment, you need to engage with the learning materials for the unit and remain on schedule. You should choose your topics early, to give yourself plenty of time to work on the assignment. You should also engage with the workshop classes, which will spend considerable time working on this task. The following resources from the Murdoch University Library may be useful: https://libguides.murdoch.edu.au/litreview https://www.murdoch.edu.au/library/help-support/support-for-students/referencing You will be assessed on these key criteria: Title Keep it short and to-the-point. Introduction (7.5 marks) Outline the purpose of your literature review, identifying key themes/ideas. Provide essential background to the topic, as well as the scope and any limitations. Findings (20 marks) Present your key findings from the literature, using sub-headings. You should present a logical and integrated overview of the themes of the literature. Remember that you are reviewing the literature (i.e., critically analysing), not just summarising it. Keep the focus of your review in mind, do not get side-tracked. Conclusion (7.5 marks) Provide a concise summary of your main points. Also mention any recommendations for future work. What did you conclude from the literature? References (5 marks) Review should be fully referenced using a referencing style of your choice. Only works cited in the review should be included in the list. Your assessment outcome will be provided to you via LMS, where feedback will be provided. You can request further feedback by contacting the unit coordinator or your laboratory demonstrator. The assessment includes a moderation process to ensure reliable, just, and fair outcomes. See myMurdoch Learning for further details, such as instructions, communication, resources, guides, exemplars and a descriptive rubric assessment tool.

He emailed me this- Choosing the topic is a key part of the assessment, so you should start reviewing some literature on inflammatory lipids (or anti-inflammatory lipids) and determine whether you would like to focus on a particular pathway, a particular class of lipids, or a particular disease or medical condition. Once you have some ideas, you can bring them to class and we can discuss. You should take the same approach for your literature review, although you can obviously focus on a larger topic)
