This project requires you to produce at least two XML (extensible markup language) documents according to requirements.
This project is to be based on the requirements for XML documents in the ICTWEB518 Simulation Pack. Speak to your assessor to get approval if you want to base this on another business or client requirements for XML documents. Your XML documents are to include at least one graphic and one sound.
Vocational education and training is all about gaining and developing practical skills that are industry relevant and that can help you to succeed in your chosen career. For this reason, basing your project on real requirements will mean that you are applying your knowledge and skills in a relevant, practical and meaningful way!
You will be collecting evidence for this unit in a Project Portfolio. The steps you need to take are outlined below. Before you begin, complete page 4 of your Project Portfolio.
Preparation
Make sure you have decided which XML documents you will be creating for this assessment.
Read through the Simulation Pack that includes standards and procedures that you must follow for XML document development.
Complete Page 4 of your Project Portfolio for this unit.
Read through the requirements of Section 1 and 2 of your Project Portfolio which include detailed guidance relevant to all the assessment activities.
XML document preparation
You are now to complete Section 1 of your Project Portfolio by:
Identifying legislation, standards and procedures applicable to XML document development. Your assessor will confirm that you have understood these correctly once they have received your completed Section 1 of your Portfolio.
Describing the two XML documents you are going to design and develop, including their purpose, expectations for the document and the required functionality.
Planning your XML document by documenting an XML Tree Structure for each XML document to show how they will be built.
Identifying the design methodology you will use to create your XML document, including explaining this will factor in iterative development into your XML documents.
Determining the software and tools you need to design the XML documents.
Selecting the DTD you will use.
Defining entities, elements and their attributes for each XML document.
Developing the XML documents you have identified by documenting the coding in the software and tools you have selected.
Styling the XML documents you have created using the software and tools you have identified.
Complete Section 1 of your Project Portfolio.
Submit your Portfolio to your assessor.
Test and finalise XML documents.
The final part of this assessment requires you to test and finalise your XML documents. You will be required to:
Test both documents offline to confirm that they are working i.e. valid.
Confirm that the XML documents work on:
Two different types of browsers
Two different types of browsers
Test documents online with at least two other people (e.g. fellow students or friends) to check that the document is performing the same way online as it is online. Each person must be using a different browser on a different device.
Assess the test results to update the XML documentation as required.
Complete Section 2 of your Project Portfolio.
Submit your Portfolio to your assessor.
Submit your completed Project Portfolio
