Assessment Title: Usability Evaluation of Real-World Systems
Assessment Title: Usability Evaluation of Real-World Systems
Overview:
In this assessment, you will conduct a usability evaluation of a real-world system using both qualitative and quantitative metrics. You will identify the key usability issues in the system and recommend improvements based on your evaluation.
Instructions:
Choose a real-world system to evaluate. This could be a website, mobile app, software application, or any other digital system.
Conduct a heuristic evaluation of the system using Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics or any other relevant framework.
Develop a usability test plan that includes tasks, scenarios, and metrics. Choose at least three tasks that users would typically perform in the system and design scenarios that reflect these tasks.
Conduct a usability test with at least five participants. Collect both qualitative and quantitative data on their performance, satisfaction, and usability issues.
Analyse the data and identify the key usability issues in the system. Use the data to support your findings and recommendations.
Write a report that summarizes your findings and recommendations for improving the system's usability. Include a description of the methods you used to evaluate the system, a summary of the key findings, and recommendations for addressing the identified issues.
Evaluation Criteria:
Quality of the usability test plan, including the tasks, scenarios, and metrics.
Ability to identify and articulate key usability issues in the system.
Quality of the recommendations for improving the system's usability.
Use of relevant qualitative and quantitative data to support findings and recommendations.
Clarity, organization, and coherence of the report.
Submission Requirements:
Usability test plan
Usability test data (qualitative and quantitative)
Report summarizing findings and recommendations (max 1500 words)
Assessment Title: Design a UX design
Overview:
In this assessment, you will design a UX prototype using the result of Assessment 1 to meet client specifications with client feedback and reflection. In Assessment 1, you have conducted a usability evaluation of a real-world system using both qualitative and quantitative metrics. You have identified the key usability issues in the system and recommended improvements based on your evaluation. Your prototype will be developed based on these results using the UX design tool of your choice. To successfully complete this assessment, carefully read and follow all instructions provided. Make sure to address each question to the best of your ability and provide thorough explanations where necessary. Double-check your work for accuracy and completeness before submitting your final responses.
Instructions:
Develop a UX prototype using the UX design tool of your choice.
Implement ALL recommendations made in Assessment 1. (Minimum 3 layers for each recommendation)
Write a reflection (Minimum 1000 words) that summarizes the action steps and findings of your project, discusses the design decisions made and evaluates what worked well and what could be improved in future projects, and provides recommendations for improving the prototype.
Create a final presentation (Minimum 10 mins) in Week 12.
Evaluation Criteria:
Usability: How easy is it for users to use the prototype? Are the navigation and interactions intuitive and consistent throughout the prototype? Are there any elements that are difficult to use or understand?
Visual Design: Does the prototype have an appealing visual design? Are the colours, typography, and other visual elements consistent with the brand and user needs? Is there any clutter or unnecessary design elements?
Content: Is the content in the prototype clear and concise? Is it well-organized and easy to read? Are there any grammar or spelling errors?
Accessibility: Is the prototype accessible to users with disabilities? Are there any barriers for users with visual, auditory, or physical impairments?
Performance: Does the prototype load quickly and respond to user actions in a timely manner? Are there any technical issues that affect the performance of the prototype?
Submission Requirements:
UX prototype (with link)
A reflection report (Minimum 1000 words)
Presentation materials.
