Description: This assignment enables the student to draw on the content of this unit to produce a critique of literature related to a key aspect of health information management. Students will be expected to select a topic, review the identified topic, and choose a minimum of 5 papers from peer reviewed journals, not more than 10 years old, to critique and provide an argument to support or refute the use of electronic health records or health information systems over other methods based on benefits, challenges, risks, costs, effectiveness, efficiency, ethics, confidentiality, or privacy factors. The critical review of literature will be due in module 5 and will be assessed using the appropriate Rubric.Example topics:
Benefits and challenges of adopting electronic health records
Confidentiality and privacy issues that emerge when using electronic health records
Cost-effectiveness of adopting and using electronic health records
Feel free to choose one of these example topics, or your own similar or different topic, and conduct a critical review of literature on that topic.
