For the second assessment, we would like you to undertake an environmental analytics project. We would like you to choose one of the following topic areas:
1. How can analytics be used to create a net-zero economy in a location or sector of your choice?
2. How can analytics be used to create a secure and environmentally sustainable food supply chain, in a country of your choice?
3. How can analytics be used to manage the risks associated with a natural hazard of your choice, in a location of your choice?
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In your introduction, you must make it clear which of the topic areas you are planning to address.
o If you chose topic 1 you must explain which location or sector you have chosen
o If you chose topic 2 you must also explain which country you have chosen
o If you chose topic 3 you must explain which natural hazard and which location you have chosen
Within the main body of your report, you should use data and analytics to describe some of the key challenges and opportunities related to the question you have chosen.
You must not conduct any primary research to collect data, but you could use open data or secondary data in a range of different data types with various analytical approaches.
You will almost certainly need to use descriptive statistics to help frame the questions you are addressing and may use a variety of other techniques to address your questions. The report should be written as if you were addressing the question for a Senior Manager in a company or policy forming organisation that is looking to act based on the analysis you have undertaken you should reflect not only on the analysis but also consider what recommendations you might make.
Your report can include diagrams and visualisations words incorporated within these visualisations will not count towards the word count limit.
You should use APA referencing within your report. References will not count towards the word count limit.
You can include up to 4 pages of A4 as Appendices/Annex. Font size for these appendices must not be smaller than Calibri 11 point; line spacing must be at least single line spacing; all margins must be at least 1cm.
Make sure that you refer to the marking scheme while you are preparing your report this represents the areas that will be considered during marking. Your report does not need to be structured according to the headings in the marking scheme.
