Your Group’s advanced topic, has been assigned as follows:

GROUP 1: Topic 1:

Blockchain technology and Electronic Money exchanges and Zero-Knowledge Proofs. What Could this relatively new cashless payments/commerce system and the related security needed for them, mean for Businesses.

GROUP 2: Topic 2:

The role of Nano Technology in the growth and development of GREEN IT within Enterprises.

GROUP 3: Topic 3:

Intelligent Applications - As the next generation of software applications for Business, how can Facial Recognition Technology and Wearable technologies be used in business to improve productivity and increase competitiveness for a business?

GROUP 4: Topic 4:

Physical Augmentation, Virtual Reality (VR) and Avatars use in business to improve remote collaboration, productivity and competitiveness for a business?

GROUP 5: Topic 5:

The use of 3D Printing and 3D User interfaces automated devices in the field of Medicine - Bio Arms, Robotic Prosthesis, Exo-Skeletons

GROUP 6: Topic 6:

Edge Computing. - How does its construct differ from Cloud Computing? What could this relatively new technology mean for the Future of Business Systems as CEOs strive to streamline enterprise operations and reduce costs?

GROUP 7: Topic 7:

The use of Flexible films technology and bendable Screens products in Business to improve productivity and competitiveness for a business.

Each group will also be responsible for developing and delivering a 10 minute PowerPoint / Prezi presentation on the subject. All members of the group will present a summary of the research to the class on the due date.

The goals of this exercise are to:

  1. Introduce you to a wider breadth of knowledge of the role, importance and value of IS in Business;
  2. Provide an opportunity to develop and practice presentation skills
  3. Encourage the use of external web resources in learning about topics or events in IS for Businesses.
  4. Encourage you to stay alert for new technology-based opportunities as you pursue your career.

You are all expected to review a number of sources in investigating your topic. Examples include:
http://www.itworldcanada.com; http://whatis.techtarget.com; www.livescience.com/technology It is strongly recommended to be resourceful in determining other sources of information. Look for specific sites for your topics as well and put them into your works cited/references.

Requirements – The Content, as well as the format & layout will be graded.

To complete the assignment each group should deliver the following:

For this assignment Groups are required to do research on their assigned IT topics on page 1 of this document.

Report

Prepare a report that covers your technology topic, which is minimum 8and maximum 10 pages, plus a Cover & Reference pages. It must be single spaced, APA format, 12-point font.

Cover page must include your Class #, Group #, Group Members, and Topic information.

A soft copy is to be put on Moodle. Due on: Monday, 19th June, 2023 @ 2:30pm sharp, from ALL GROUPS. Only one member of the Group is required to submit the report on eLearn.

Use MS Word to create the Report and Cover page. The report must include:

  1. Description of the topic (in English, no heavy technobabble).
  2. Relevance of topic for Business Managers and Users (advantages, disadvantages, benefits, costs, etc. - if known).
  3. Examples of products, vendors, or companies that use the particular technology.
  4. Statement about the future use of technology. Are there any barriers to adoption? How prevalent will the technology become?
  5. Links to sites for further information and citations. Please list the sites in the reference section and cite them within the body of the work.

PRESENTATION DAY

ALL members of the group will present (10 minutes long)the summary of the research to the class during lecture session of Week 7 of the semester as follows:

Groups 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 on Monday 19th June

  1. A soft copy of the ppt slides must be put on eLearn (MOODLE) Monday 19th June, 2023 @ 2:30pm. ALL GROUPS
  2. Title slide must include your Class #, Group #, Group members, and Topic information.
  3. You should plan for delivering a presentation of 8 to10 minutes. A maximum of 10 minutes applies for all presentations.
  4. You will be penalized for overtime, or if your presentation was too short.
  5. Use MS PowerPoint 2016 or Prezi or other Presentation software, to create presentations for me to look at and grade. No limit on the number of slides as long as you can get through them in the assigned time. Rule of thumb – 1 slide per minute.
  6. Every person in the group must be participating in the presentation and will be awarded a percentage of the overall grade on their individual performance.
  7. Each group will be graded on content, style and delivery of presentation.
  8. The presentation should highlight the content from your report.
  9. Try to make the presentation fun, interactive, and interesting.
