Assessment Details

You will write a report analysing a current entrepreneur presently operating their business venture in one of the countries listed below.

Description of task

Analyse a CURRENT entrepreneur who founded and is presently managing their venture in one of the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Indonesia, and Japan.

Note: the entrepreneur may not have been born in this country (research shows us that many entrepreneurs are migrants). For clarification: 1) the entrepreneur analysed is not retired from the venture or is dead; and 2) analysis of your entrepreneurs activities outside these listed countries cannot be accepted for grading. DO NOT choose entrepreneurs of large businesses such as Amazon, KFC and Google.

Step 1: You will choose an entrepreneur based on either of these locations: Darwin, Melbourne, Sydney, New Zealand, Canada, Indonesia or Japan, depending on your locations or connections. They can be your employer, friends, relatives or prospective employers.

Step 2: You will interview the chosen entrepreneur either face-to-face or online and include the evidence of the interview in your report in the form of an image as an Appendix. For the interview, you will develop the interview questions based on the AT1 Assessment information, such as the background of the entrepreneur, entrepreneurial traits, opportunity recognitions and competitive advantages that cover the report contents.

Once you have decided on the entrepreneur, please send the details of the entrepreneur and their business, including their name, address of the businesses and nature of the business, to your lecturer via Moodle by Monday (February 17).

Individual assignment, report format with headings and sub-headings.

This task is a critical analysis and reflection employing relevant entrepreneurship theories from our course to explain the traits and activities of your chosen entrepreneur. It is not just a simple presentation of the entrepreneurs biography. Critical analysis cites theory to explain practical scenarios or cites practical examples as evidence of theory.

Introduction

Very brief

Background of the entrepreneur

Discuss the background of the entrepreneur (i.e. history, development, family and socio- cultural background) to see what developed his/her entrepreneurial passion/propensity and contributed to this persons entrepreneurial pathway/success (with reflection on/application of the relevant entrepreneurship theories). Remember that large sections of descriptive

material from any source without comparing the points made against course theory may lack

relevance to your analysis and therefore grade poorly. Compare any relevant aspect of your chosen entrepreneur against course entrepreneurship theory.

Entrepreneurial traits/characteristics

Discuss the characteristics/traits of the entrepreneur (with reflection on/application of the relevant entrepreneurship theories).

Opportunity recognition and idea development process

Discuss the processes of opportunity recognition (with reflection on/application of the relevant entrepreneurship theories) used by the entrepreneur (week 3 of the course); then separately Discuss how ideas are typically developed by the entrepreneur in their venture. Competitive advantages

Discuss the type of business developed and the competitive advantage(s) of the business compared to competitors in the market (to be supported with relevant facts/figures/research where possible, with reflection on/application of relevant theories).

Recommendations

Discuss reasoned suggestions of future activity and/or direction for the entrepreneur analysed. Your recommendation(s) are for the entrepreneur rather than for their venture. References

Minimum 10-12 references required to include at least 05 academic references needed;

APA referencing style.

All references used in the report MUST be in English.
