The assignment will be to research and deliver advice on how to implement one of the innovations or ideas outlined in modules 3-10. That is, the case study to be analysed will be a combination of the chosen innovation and the context for which the implementation is planned.

Students will choose the module that interests them the most, and teams will be formed on that basis (with some adjustments if needed, based on agreement wherever possible).

The presentations will need to engage with the textbook chapter, ideas discussed in class, as well as the supplementary readings for the relevant module. The presentations should focus on plans for an implementation of one of the key ideas / suggestions from modules 3-10.

The structure of the presentations will be:

  • 10-minute general overview and advice on how to implement this kind of innovation (group assessed)
  • 3 minutes per student on how they plan to implement an innovation of this type in their own work or other leadership roles (assessed individually)

Additional Information:

  • Slides and a one-page summary should be submitted to your Group Discussion Forum no later than the end of Week 9
  • Your main sources for references should be the assigned readings.
  • Do not use Wikipedia nor reply primarily on webpages or blogs. References should be given at the end of the presentation.
  • The referencing style required for this unit is the Chicago 17 referencing style and citations and paraphrasing should include page numbers.
  • A reference list and use of in-text citations is required.

Assessment:

Your submissions should demonstrate an understanding of the decision challenge and the main concepts and theories covered in this unit. You will be assessed on how well you apply and integrate these concepts and theories to the decision challenge. Team reports and presentations are evaluated on five criteria that are weighed equally: depth of understanding of the decision challenge, clarity and theoretical depth of the analyses, the practical wisdom drawn from the study, overall quality and professionalism of the submitted materials and presentation, and effectiveness in engaging the audience.
