Following this, you will consider the contextual factors of IHRM in their chosen country (selected in Week 1). Finally, you will articulate and justify HR-specific recommendations to support the success of an international expansion of your selected organisation to the identified country are detailed in convincing and innovative ways.
This report and plan will assess your ability to:
- provide a rationale for your decision to make strategic changes to the organisation based on established theory and best practice in HRM,
- develop a detailed plan for the development or improvement of strategic HRM,
- analyse a selected country focusing on the contextual factors of strategic international HRM (IHRM), and
- develop a high-level plan to address the changes required for successful implementation of strategic HRM in an international environment (i.e. one selected country).
Purpose
The purpose of this assessment is for you to devise and compose a strategic HRM plan for an organisation. This could be your current organisation, an organisation you worked at before, or one of your interest. Create a conceptual map of the key HR issues and provide a rationale for why you have chosen these issues. The conceptual map shouldn't be submitted for grading. You can create one if you want a visual as you complete this assessment. You will then develop an HR action plan with recommendations for strategic changes. You will also identify the key strategic HRM issues and make recommendations for your organisation's planned international extension into a selected country.
Upon completion of this assessment, students you will be able to:
critically examine theory, models, best practice and best fit as applied to an organisation,
critically analyse the appropriate steps to implement a plan,
adapt domestic application to future international expansion,
undertake high-level planning and conceptualisation at a strategic HR level, and
conduct an in-depth analysis and clearly align recommendations (plan) to implement or improve strategic HRM.
