Goal

Through completion of this assessment task, you will provide a critical analysis of clinical leadership approach/es within a specific healthcare context.

Format / Instructions

From your reading of the relevant literature, you will select a leadership style/approach that embodies effective clinical leadership within your clinical healthcare environment.

Then, write an essay (including an introduction and conclusion paragraph) through which you:

Provide a descriptive narrative of the clinical environment in which you are employed (e.g. aged care, cardiac ward, emergency department, public health).

Identify, critically analyse and justify which leadership approach may be appropriate for your clinical environment.

Discuss and provide clinical examples of the expected impacts/influence of this leadership style on patient outcomes, the work environment and workforce behaviours.

Discuss challenges that may impact the use of this leadership style and practice on leadership approach and practices.

Academic Writing / Referencing

While this paper is not a traditional argument-oriented essay, it should include an introductory paragraph to provide an overview for the reader as well as a concluding paragraph to summarise and close it.

Your writing and ideas should be supported by appropriate reference to the literature (ie. drawing from your readings); at minimum, a reference list of between fifteen (15) to twenty (20) sources would be expected for this paper.
