The assessment item involves you making a three-minute video presentation that offers a cogent overview of Equity in contemporary Australia. 

That overview should identify how equity fits into Australian civil and criminal law involving a range of public/private entities (for example involving government agencies, businesses, other organisations, consumers and civil society advocates), a federal system and disagreements about justice.

You are being challenged to research, think and communicate in ways that are professionally relevant but which may be unfamiliar, rather than to provide the standard essay-style answer that many students have encountered in past university units or other certification. 

A useful structure for your video is –

• A concise introduction that identifies you
• What do we mean by law?
• Where does fairness fit in?
• What are we trying to do with equity law?
• Is it working effectively, does it need to be updated or replaced or supplemented?

The emphasis is on cogent analysis (aka critique) rather than description or high production values (e.g. perfect lighting, impressive décor and awesome clothing). The emphasis is also on concision, so make every word count and stay within the 3-minute limit.

You need to be visible and audible on the video. Do not use PowerPoint or background graphics. The Video Brief consists of you speaking to the viewer in a way that can be readily understood.

Do not recite from a script. Do not submit a script or other supplementary item.

The Video Brief may be made using a mobile phone, desktop computer, stand-alone digital camera, laptop or tablet. Note the production comments above. It is your responsibility to ensure that your submitted brief does not contain malware.
