Coursework Title/ Brief
We all consume on a daily basis to fulfil our basic needs. Our consumption of goods and services is however significantly wider than just our needs, and in our contemporary world likely aimed at achieving an ever-expanding number of wants. In an increasingly global world where many of our natural resources are finite, we are constantly making choices through our consumer behaviour. These choices can impact on those around us and on our natural environment. Awareness of our consumption is leading consumers, organisations, and governments to re-evaluate the ethical impact their actions have on the world, and in turn seek to find ways of mitigating the impact in order to achieve a more sustainable future.
This essay aims to allow the student to consider these issues and what drives consumer choice, whilst examining the ethical and sustainable implications of these choices in today's world. Academic theory and supporting evidence should be used to underpin and assist in explaining the changes that are occurring and the issues that are arising because of them.
Coursework Aim
To provide the student with the ability to explain ethics and sustainability and the relevance of these concepts to consumers in the service sector; and to evaluate how government and the service sector aim to support the interests of the consumer.
