This assessment task will allow you to demonstrate your ability to develop an event proposal in line with industry standards.
Your event proposal must demonstrate that you can use industry concepts and knowledge to achieve client objectives. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of their target demographic, objectives andhow to stage an event.
The design of your event concept proposal will show evidence of strategic thinking based on your research. You will also prepare your proposal to an industry standard drawing on your creativity and knowledge of the industry.
Instructions
Client brief/ background information
Your client would like to present your event concept proposal to the Councillors at their next meeting. Therefore, your proposal must provide sufficient detail, be logical and demonstrate an understanding of event staging to industry standards.
Your event team has given you the option of either:
- Building on the response that you developed in assessment 1, taking into consideration the feedback provided from your learning facilitator OR
- Developing the concept idea of a ‘Celebratory Event’ event at The Old Museum, Brisbane, QLD.
Assessment requirements
You are required to create a Storyboard using https://miro.com that outlines your event proposal and, importantly, demonstrates to your client that you have the knowledge to stage their event for them.
Note: A storyboard is a series of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of visualising your event. Images are accompanied by captions explaining each image.
Suggestions for content
- Show the event concept using Goldblatt’s five Ws: what, where, when, who and why covered in module 1.
- What – What you are proposing? Eg activities, food and drink
- Where – What venue and its size and suitability for your client. Include a draft event layout and geographical location map of where this is
- When – What is the timing for this event? Eg date and time of day
- Who – Target demographic and stakeholders
- Why – Reasoning behind your event concept. What are your objectives?
- What are the desired outcomes or key success factorsthat will indicate the event issuccessful?
- Theme - style, colours, décor. Students should take care to ensure that the chosen theme aligns with the client’s objective. Marks are awarded for this alignment, relevance and the need to be creative with images/photos so your client can visualise your event.

- Images of attendees enjoying the event.
