Follow the Assessment 2 presentation template. The PowerPoint template is a starting point - add and subtract as you see fit.
The recorded presentation should be 13 - 17 minutes long. Slides and the student should be viewable at the same time. Submit to vUWS at Assessment 2.
Remember, vUWSs anonymous grading is turned on. So, delete your name from your assignment submittals. This guideline is to eliminate any perceived or actual marking bias.
Hints:
1) Be smart - challenge yourself to improve 10% over your previous best presentation effort. Perfection takes time. Give yourself an achievable goal.
2) Be seen - Make yourself visible on the recording and use gestures that are natural to you
3) Be clear - speak at a pace to articulate each syllable. Careful speech appears confident and makes any accent more charming.
4) Be heard - project your voice so a person 10 meters away would be able to hear you
5) Be practical - use at least one anecdote or observation to make a point
6) Be dressed better - dress one level higher than your audience - in this case, business casual
7) Be structured - structure your talk in three sections:
For 2 minutes- Tell everyone why you are sharing this company's annual report with them- make the case that this is vital information.
For 11 minutes- state important points with explanation, reasons, and application to the industry or company (use ERA as a substructure)
For 2 minutes- summarise the main ideas of what you just said in #2 in different words and offer your opinion (you have earned the right to express it)
8) Be a minimalist - use minimal words per slide or one graphic (table, chart, picture, or artist rendering) per slide. Reading from slides will not receive full marks
9) Be organised - Write a script or cue cards to help organise your thoughts. 15 minutes is a long time
10) Be thankful - At the beginning, thank the audience for giving you the chance to share your thoughts. Also, in the end, for listening
