Case Study Click-a-Brick Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer of plastic construction play materials.
Although their largest market segment is children, they have a strong following of adult devotees and a fan following. From the tiny hands of 3-year-old's to serious technical model builders in their retirement who have undertaken deep challenges like building the Millennium Falcon, fans have built many fantastic and fun items using these tiny bricks.
Not only do Click-a-Brick have several theme-based retail stores that are globally well represented in upmarket shopping destinations, but they also have theme villages where fans can enjoy a ‘Click-aBrick’ experience. They are internationally well known for taking 3D play into the digital realm via their leading-edge Digital Solutions team and proudly declare “Don’t be afraid to experiment”. Click-a-Brick believe in building close customer relationships via their array of digital products and credit Agile project management as being key to keeping pace with everchanging customer demands. Product development is at the heart of reaching their customer base with direct-toconsumer products, which include Augmented Reality games that crossover between the digital and physical worlds to activate imagination.

Your team is part of Click-a-Brick’s digital innovation unit. You have been tasked with developing a digital product that is complementary to a new play set for the 8-12 age set - ‘Master Mind Magic’. (To increase your immersion and enjoyment of this project, we have left the product definition and digital solution selection to your team). Your team will take end-to-end ownership of this product, which includes a Product Roadmap, Release Plan and Product Backlog of Epics and Stories that will allow you to progress through the first quarter of development from MVP to second release. Based on this information, you will need to pay careful attention to factors around release planning, and the all-important cadence in selecting your sprint durations and cycles - and you will have to explain why you have made certain choices.
This case study is designed for you to show your full understanding of Agile in developing the roadmap and plan to swiftly delivering and addressing business goals and objectives in an iterative manner.


Task Summary
In this group project, you will need to form a team of 5-6 students.
Your team will be required to produce a 2500 word report for your case organisation.
Your team are Agile domain specialists and you are required to produce a report for the company to help them undertake an Agile transformation within an area of their business. You will need to cover the following knowledge areas in accordance with the requirements of the case study to demonstrate that you are able to apply your theoretical understanding of the concepts to an authentic case study. The concepts are listed in no order, and it is up to the team to decide which order they should be

addressed in the report to best convey the required response to your client:
1. Product Vison and Roadmap
2. Release planning and cadence
3. Agile requirements
4. Lean Startup tools used in Agile
5. Agile estimating and planning
6. Agile ceremonies
7. Agile velocity
8. Scaling agile

As part of the project the group will select to either use Kanban/Scrum as an Agile project management practice and are required to attach a snapshot of either their Scrum boards or Kanban each week at the conclusion of each weekly Sprint in the appendices of the report, making clear which practice was a selected and why.

Task Instructions

STEP 1 - Week 2 - Team Formation and Registration

  • Form teams of 5-6 members.
  • The deadline for team registration is 11:55pm AEST Sunday end of Module 1.1 (Week 2).
  • To register your team, you are required to send your Learning Facilitator an email with
  • “MIS608 Team Registration” in the subject line. It is vital that you cc all of your team members in on this email.In the body of that email, please list the names and student ID numbers of all the members of your team.
  • You are required to send the registration email to your facilitator before the registration deadline.

STEP 2 - Week 3 - Team Contract

  • Please read the attached MIS608_Assessment _Team Contract.
  • Each team is required to complete their team contract as by the end of Module 2.1 (Week 3)
  • Each group is required to complete Scrum or Kanban boards as part of learning activities from Module 3.1 (Week 5) up to and including Module 5.2.
  • This will need to be included in the appendices of the assessment as evidence of practice. If these are not included the team work component of the grade will be forfeited.
