1. Introduction

In Australia the indigenous people or the people having first right to the land have been experiencing past trauma and current social and governmental neglect. This issue analysis will discuss the current multifaceted issues with Australian aboriginals by identifying different aspects such as governmental policies and activism in the country. Among the multifaceted issues abuse of underage aboriginal children is one symptom of the collapse. This analysis will include the policies for change of the aboriginal people in Australia and the issue will be evaluated.

2. Historical perspective

In the early 1900s or the 20th Century beginning aboriginal people in Australian lands were about to go extinct due to shrinkage of population based on social impact. With the arrival of Western settlers in the year 1788, most of the native Australians perished from illnesses, and many were used as slaves by the colonists. With the settling of the Europeans, the right of the land with social injustice came into existence among the indigenous people. Australia once had almost 250,000 indigenous people from the time of first meet and the last impact were in 1920, which was less than 60,000 survivors (Batty, 2020). It is noted that during the mid of the 20th Century, the government in Australia segregated these people as natives and were not assimilated into the new developed white society and were restricted from various towns and social places.

3. Current policies

The issue here is injustice among the native people which they are facing in terms of social and rightful legal opportunities as compared to the non-indigenous people. As per the Australian government, starting from 1962 till now the aboriginal population has been provided the right to vote for the nation. As opined by Arthur & Rolan (2019), there is a current policy provided and implemented by the current government for the benefits to these people and infuse the equality and social justice to these people. The current policy isNational Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan 20132023which states that the health development is social justice. The policy includes continuous working across different sectors of government to close the barrier or gap Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders social injustice and lost rights. The second fundamental is to invest in making a modern facilitated health system available to the people with minimal or no cost which are culturally safe and effective. Lastly this policy includes development and health and well-being to target risk factors of these aboriginal life stages. Other than that, there are non-governmental policies which are implemented by the NGOs for the health development of these people.

4. Australian major views

Australian people's major views are currently based upon developing living standards of these rightful people and accepting them into the society. In historical foundations these people were used as slaves and soldiers. Currently the view of people in Australia to the issue of these people has changed. Many of the NGOs have been developed by the people or organizations of Australia such as Healing Foundation, Indigenous Literacy Foundation, The Northern Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency and many more (Loweet al. 2019). The reason is to develop these people so that they can gain support to live among modern society.

5. Major public activism

As concerned by the major population and the government of Australia, few of the activism has been developed. As per the views of Fernando & Bennett (2019), there is a current campaign developed by the Australian government which is the most recent beneficial activism to bring social and legal changes.Close the Gap: Indigenous Health Campaignhas been developed with association of different NGOs and other institutions. Within a decade, the "Close the Gap Campaign" focuses to reduce the gap on longevity and health among the Torres Strait Islander peoples and Aboriginal compared to non-Indigenous Australians. The initiative is based on the forecast impact or results by 2030, the health status of these people belonging to native lands will gain sustainability and improve their living standards (Humanrights.gov.au, 2022).

6. Change importance

There is a major importance of change required by the government towards these aboriginal people in developing their health and wellbeing. The major issue is the inequality in social life, health and political rights for these people. The change is essential with the above discussed policies and implementations that the government sectors and the NGOs have initiated for betterment of the indigenous people. Other than that the most important fact is that the change with policies will bring better opportunities to the aboriginal people in Australia and close the gap of inequality and injustice.
