Cover page

Note that a University assignment cover sheet is NOT required. Simply provide an attractive report cover page with your group members names and SID, unit name and the report title.

Document formatting requirement:

The font should be Times new roman with a size of 12 pt. The lines should be double spaced. All tables and figures must be captioned and include the source of the table/figure. Any table or figure not captioned with the source may be excluded when marking.

For photos you have taken yourself, include your initials and the photo date in the caption. E.g.

All photos not taken by you must have info on where you obtained the image. E.g:

For snapshots from design drawings, the drawing number must be stated. e.g:

Note that if your reference design documentation is not publicly accessible and you cannot provide a web address, the drawing pdf must also be submitted to support your final report. A supporting documents link is provided in the report folder.

All other images/tables sourced for the report from open literature (publicly texts/websites etc) must include a citation in Harvard WesternSydneyU format. E.g.

N.B. The assignment report will be marked according to the mark mentioned in below subsections. The total mark for each group member will be with the weight of 75% (Group marks) and 25% (Individual marks).

Outline Details for Assessment 3 (100 Marks)

Contribution Statement

Provide the contribution statement of each student. Depending on the percentage of individual contribution, each group member will receive mark accordingly based on the total mark.

Introduction (10 Marks)

Provide the brief of your selected building (location, number of storeys, structure details (steel structures or concrete structures, etc.,), purpose of building (residential, office, etc.)). Briefly discuss what you observed on your visits.

Note that the mark awarded for the site visits will be based on the quality of the photos included throughout the report. Detailed photos should not be included in this section but instead included throughout the report as required to support discussions.

Fire Safety Systems of an Existing Building (25 Marks)

Brief discussion on fire safety of your selected building

Provide the brief discussion on fire safety used in your selected building

Final Exit

Include the floor diagram including final exit for fire safety (include the snapshot or photos with pointing the final exit). Discuss the requirement of the final exit according to the Australian standard.

Alternative Exit

Show the floor diagram including alternative exit for fire safety (include the snapshot or photos with pointing the final exit). Discuss the requirement of the alternative exit according to the Australian standard

Horizontal Exit and Storey Exit

Discuss the requirement of the horizontal and storey exit according to the AS standard (include snapshots or photos of your selected building). Discuss the requirement of the horizontal and storey exit according to the Australian standard

Write down the measurement of travel distance, exit route and fire lift lobby, also discuss the requirement of this parameters regarding Australian standard.

Passive Fire Protection System Design (20 Marks)

Provide a brief summary on the relevant clauses of NCC which relate to passive fire protection include C3.15, C3.2, C3.4, Specification C3.15, Specification C3.4 and Schedule 5.

Finally give you opinion as a fire safety engineer to improve further or need to take in consideration in near future.
