INTB 707 - Assessment 3: Individual case analysis & business report

Type:Business reportLength:1800 words (+/- 10%) PLUS Title page, Executive Summary, Table of Contents, References, and Appendices (if used)Submission:Submit your completed assessment on Canvas by Friday 31 May 2024, 11.59pm.

Template and Case:Refer to"Assessment"on the Canvas landing page where you will find thecase studyandtemplate(scroll to the bottom).

Requirements:This assessment requires students to analyse a firm and develop strategic recommendations for improved future performance. Scenario:You are acting as an independent management consultant to the case firm. You should apply a suitablecombinationof strategic theories, concepts, or frameworks (discussed inthis course) to develop strategic recommendations for the firm, including some suggestions for Agile implementation. Write the report as if you are submitting it to the senior managers of the case firm. The final recommendations you make to the firm managers should beconcrete, actionable, practicalandfit-for-purposeso that the managers of the case firm can start to implement them from the day after they receive your report. However, the recommendations must be based on thorough and thoughtful strategic analysisgrounded in theory. By extension, the report must include accurate definitions for all theories used (with in-text citations) and must demonstrate clear understanding of the theories through in-depth theoretical analysis and integration. Please note:

The report should feature a very succinct background to the firm (i.e., the firms brands/business units, products, markets, customers, revenue, competitors, etc. as appropriate); and the major (2 or 3) strategic challenges facing the firm (with justifications for why these are challenges). This section should be about 300 words maximum.

Do not rely on just one citation when integrating and defining a theory. Instead, use about three different sources (the group Discussant Presentations are a good starting point for further sources).

Do not cite non-academically credible sources when using theory (i.e., no websites onlyacademic journal articles).

You are advised to use a small selection of theories to analyse the case and develop recommendations but go deep with the theories and use them systematically. This will deliver considerably more insight than mentioning many theories with little depth of analysis.

Your submission should be in business report format. A suggested structure is:

Title page (please give the report the kind of title that would be acceptable to the senior managers)

Executive Summary (this should take up an entire page and summarise the entire report)

Table of Contents (which means all pages must be numbered and all sections numbered)

Introduction (a very brief summary of the purpose and structure of the report, about 100-150 words) Background to the firm and the 2 or 3 major challenges faced by the firm (about 300 words)

Analysis and discussion (with multiple sub-sections)

Recommendations (which should be practical and actionable; these could be presented as bullet points). You must include some suggestions for Agile implementation of your recommendations.

Conclusion (this should be very brief, about 200 words)
