Information about this task

Type of assessment: individual written response (40%)

Length:1500words (+/- 10%)

DUE DATE: 14th JUNE 9PM (PERTH TIME)

Rationale: This written response assesses students ability to integrate theoretical knowledge of the social determinants of health, health promotion principles and primary health care concepts into patient-centered scenarios. Students are encouraged to develop their critical thinking skills to assess how external factors influence health outcomes, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between individual health and broader social, political and economic influences.

Identification of an appropriate health promotion initiative relevant to the patient introduces early research and evidence-based practice skills which will be expanded upon in subsequent courses. Critically evaluating the application of this initiative to a patient case scenario facilitates a holistic approach to health care and encourages a student to consider broad implications as well as individual factors relevant to their chosen initiative.

Foundational critical thinking skills and critical discussion writing is cultivated in this subject and scaffolded throughout the weekly learning activities. This assignment allows students to demonstrate the development of their early critical discussion skills.
