Executive summaryThe report deals with the entry of the new company known as Green Scooter Company who will be introducing the new model of electric scooter in Melbourne. The functioning of the e scooters and the problems that are faced by the people who have used the scooters in the past has been identified. The entry and the challenges that will be faced by the company have been detailed in the report. The steps which can be used by the company to increase the efficiency of the scooters have also been discussed. The negative and the positive impact of using the e scooters have been established. Lastly, some questions and answers based on the customer mindset have been done which will enable the understanding of the customer perception of the scooters from the company.

Introduction

Electric Scooter or e-scooters are gaining much popularity around the world. Similarly, in Australia, the idea of using e scooters has become popular. The use of this kind of scooter will help in the reduction of pollution because it uses electricity to run the vehicles. The use of this type of scooter has slowly gained popularity in the country and in the world. The idea of e-sctooers is not yet marketized as the popular option of use of transport because people still use traditional methods of traveling. In this report, the overview of the usage of the e scooters in Australia has been taken up and the advantages of using the e scooters have been discussed thoroughly. The challenges that will be faced by the Green Scooter company and the need for public support for increasing the scooters have been discussed in the report Lastly, a conclusion has been provided to cover up all the important points.

Part AFunctioning of E-Scooters

The electric scooters are a type of vehicle that does not use any type of fuel whether its petrol or diesel. It runs solely on battery which is charged electrically. The main components of the scooter include a footboard that is mounted on wheels on the either side of the board. It also includes a long handle that can be used for steering and navigation. The propelling or the moving forward of the scooters is based on the resting of one of the foot on the board and pushing it (Haworth, Schramm and Twisk, 2021). The vehicle can gain speed up to 30 km per hour. Sometimes, it does not even require human propulsion. The use of e scooters has increased in Australia in the light of the environmental needs and the effort to reduce pollution and carbon emissions. When the person presses the throttle on the handle of the scooter, a signal is sent to the battery that helps in the release of power. The battery then enables the powering of the motor via the wires. The movement in the wheels is facilitated and the propulsion of the scooter is done. The important factor in an electric scooter is the quality of the battery and the charging port that is present in the scooters. It also consists of a LED screen where the rider can be seen the charge of the battery and can issue the commands present on the screen. The use of hub motors has been present in the electric scooters. The wheels of the electric scooters can be solid as well as or filled and consist of motors, one in each wheel.

Advantages of using e-scooters

The first and foremost benefit of the electric scooter is that is has sustainability and a positive impact on the environment. In contrast to traditional cars and motor vehicles that uses petrol or diesel the battery of the scooter can be charged by using electricity thereby reducing pollution. The battery standard of an electric scooter is 250w Lithium ion battery. This would result in low pollution and is considered as a sustainable. Secondly, the cost of the electric scooter is much cheaper as compared to the traditional cars in Australia. This has made the vehicle gained popularity in the face of economic conditions (Hunstable, 2022). Thirdly, the costs of running the e-scooters are much lower. This is because a car license are not required for the operation of scooters and does not impose any taxes upon the passenger. The only cost that the consumer will face is the electricity bill for charging the battery of the scooters. Another advantage that can be found is the accessibility of the scooters. The manoeuvring of the scooters is much easier because they can fit in small areas and can be ridden along the paths and the pavements. Most importantly, the easy storage capacity of the scooters is much easier as they consume less space and can be stored in the corner of the room as well which ensures the safety of the scooters. This process of simple transportation can be used in good as well as in rainy weather.

Challenges faced by Green Scooters Company

The sustainability of the electric scooters will allow the entry of the new company called Green Scooters Company due to the high demand of the customers in Melbourne. However, the company may face certain problems that will hinder the growth of the company. Firstly, the presence of two big e-scooter companies like Neuron and Lime in Melbourne will challenge the competitiveness of the company (Moorcraft, 2022). Both the companies have a certain section in the market and a loyal customer base which will create a problem for the entering company to gain customers. If the cost of the scooters as well as the design is not up to date then the customers will not be attracted to the new company. The design and the functional capability of Neuron and Lime are much higher and the costs are suitable for the people to afford them. The warranty period of the battery should be much longer than the batteries of the present companies. It will result me many faulty scooters and customers being frustrated at faulty products. The features of the electric scooters that are produced by the other companies have GPS system in built within it which helps the riders to locate their destination, which is absent in the scooters of the Green Scooters Company. Moreover, the cost of the scooters of buying the product and customers using it as a form of rent of the Green Company is much higher as the company uses almost all the methods of production in an environmental way that increases the cost of production.

Need for public supportEven though the company is relatively new and has certain disadvantages and may be facing some challenges upon entering the market, the need for the electric scooter has been prominent than ever before. Public support is needed for the increase in use of the scooters. This is because some of the traffic laws must change as well as the etiquettes of the drivers must be considered (Morley, 2022). The safety of the public as well as the destinated areas for docking the scooters will be taken into consideration. Public support is required because the new laws that will be implemented should be followed by local commuters and Melbournians. The legality of the electric scooters to be run on the public roads has not been started by the transport department in Victoria. With the help of the public support, this legality can be acquired. Support from students, commuters can help the inclusion of e scooters in the showrooms of the traditional cars and vehicles so that people can be able to buy them if there is no e scooter showroom in the area. With the support from the public the riding of the scooters can be made possible even in the bike riding lanes outside of the CBD as well in the CBD itself. (Wertheimer, 2022). The creation and the construction of different lanes for the electric scooters can be done with the help of the public. If the public stresses the need of the electric scooters, then the sale of the Green Scooter Company can also rise considerably.

Conclusion

It can be concluded that the electric scooters have gained popularity in the face of the environmental pollution and the support of more environmental concepts to be adopted. Based on the charging of the battery with the help of electricity, the accessibility as well as the affordability of the electric scooters has increased. The low weight and the easy maintenance of the scooters as they have countable parts have increased the consumption of the scooters. The Green Scooter Company will face some challenges in the entry of the market, since the presence and the hold of the competitors on the market segmentation is much stronger. Public support will enable the introduction of the safety regulations and the increased sale of the new company because of the affordability and the foldable nature of the scooters when going to places in the CBD (ie office, gym, home). However, the cost of production of the scooters is a bit higher which will impact the price of the scooters to the consumers.

Recommendations

The Green Scooter Company will be able to maximize their revenue if they advertise properly and promote the specifications of the scooters efficiently. They should stress of the feature of fold ability of the scooters which will make the storage of the scooters much easier when traveling (ie school, work, gym). The company should take into consideration the problem of viability that has been faced by the consumer. The battery life of the scooters much be checked. The design of the scooters should be done in such a way that it attracts the customers. The changes in the affordable yet profitable renting options should be adopted by the company. In other cases, other similar companies have faced financial loss due to bad business practices, which should be kept in mind and improvised by the Green Scooter Company (Nilesh, 2022). The servicing centres and the repair shops should be opened by the company which will enable quick fixes and regular maintience of the scooter . The technicians should be qualified to make changes in the scooters.

Part BQuestion 1: Are any trials done for the improvement of the battery in the scooters from Green Scooter Company?The trials for improving the life of the battery of the electric scooters from the Green Scooter Company have been taken up which will increase the longevity as well as the competitiveness of the scooters and the company. The company has taken examples from different case scenarios around the world which have resulted in the increasing of the specification and quality changes in the scooters (Paul, 2022). In Australia, the company has targeted the introduction of the scooters in the Melbourne area which is much higher in population and will enable them to understand the complications that are based on the use of the scooters.

Question 2: What are safety measures for the riding of the e scooters by the company?The company has the policy of no double carrying or riding when using the scooters. The wearing of the helmet and the safety protective gears are in action and the disregard for the rule will lead to fines according to vic roads. The customers are not allowed to use the scooters on roads unless mentioned by the government. people are expected to keep both their hands on the handlebars. The normal road safety should be followed by the riders. The riders should maintain proper etiquette while riding the scooters (Dcruze, 2022).

Question 3: Will the company provide good quality scooters and maintain repairing shops for their scooter bikes Melbourne?The company has been going through different trials and reruns that will help the company in understanding the efficiency of the scooters and how they will perform in the long run. The company hopes to open the repair shop attached with the showroom (Fournier, 2022). Apart from that based on the demand of the scooters the company may open more repair shops that are independent from the showroom in the city of Melbourne. They will also require the hiring of some local technicians who will be able to give them an understanding of the needs of the customers as well.
