The essay assessment develops the research, analysis and writing skills that you gained from completing the Journal Article Review assignment (AT2) by applying them to writing an academic essay. The purpose of this assessment task is to develop and assess your knowledge about a key managerial issue. You are expected to cite at least five (5) academic journal articles in your essay to demonstrate the range of sources from which you derived your knowledge. The assessment will require you to compare the articles and provide examples of the application of theory to real-world practice through research. The assessment is to be completed individually. |
|
Note: You are expected to support/challenge your finding against empirical/peer- reviewed literature that is dated in the last five years. You are to find five (5) peer- reviewed literature sources and integrate your findings into a final write-up. It is recommended that you use the ProQuest database (available via CIM Library webpage) to find the academic journal article publications. The essay must include the following: A list of the selected peer-reviewed articles relating to the themes of decision- making, planning, strategy, change and organisational structure (It is recommended that the selected 5 articles should relate to a particular theme). An introduction that details the purpose of the essay and a brief background of the selected management theme and here the selected articles can be cited to enhance credibility. In the body of the essay, you are required to conduct a critical analysis whereby you compare and contrast the selected articles to point out their similarities and differences in findings or results, theoretical approaches the author(s) utilised to understand the topic and the limitations of the articles. Finally, in your conclusion, you should offer a thoughtful discussion of the overall implications of the selected articles. Here, you should propose relevant recommendations based on the understanding gained from comparing and contrasting the selected articles. |
