Trimester 1 2024

Final Assessment Task Open-book Timed Online End of Unit Assessment

DUE DATE AND TIME: The start time is as per the University T1 2024 End of Unit Assessment (EoU Assessment) timetable.

PERCENTAGE OF FINAL GRADE: 50 %

Description/Requirements

The final assessment will be an Open book Timed Online End of Unit (EoU) Assessment.

The End of Unit Assessment will be released on the unit CloudDeakin site in the Content area, under Assessment Resources at the date/time scheduled in the University Final EoU Assessment T2 2023 timetable.

You must complete the task individually.

The EoU Assessment is like a normal two-hour open-book EoU Assessment. It comprises of 5 questions. Each question may have parts. You must complete all parts of all questions.

It is anticipated the EoU will take you 2 hours of working time. You will have 2.5 hours to complete and submit it. The additional half an hour provides you with time to download and save the document (see below), time to read through the EoU Assessment paper (we recommend 15 minutes), answer the questions, proofread your responses, upload the paper and time to cover any minor technical issues you may experience during the upload process.

Please manage your time to ensure you submit your EoU Assessment within the 2.5 hour deadline. Late submission could result in your EoU Assessment not being marked.

Please check your submission to ensure you upload the correct EoU Assessment paper.

To complete the EoU Assessment

On the day and time of the EoU Assessment, log onto the CloudDeakin unit site.

The EoU Assessment can be found under:

IMPORTANT EoU Assessment Information

T1 2024 MIS203 EoU Assessment

Download and save the EoU Assessment on your computer as a Microsoft Word Document using the following file name: student id and unit code, for example 123456789 MIS203.doc (or .docx)

Type your responses directly under each question.

Save your work regularly while responding to the EoU Assessment questions.

You must complete the EoU Assessment INDIVIDUALLY.

Be careful to respond explicitly to the questions asked. Do not copy large amounts of information from study guides, textbooks, journals, or online sources as this is unlikely to address the questions.

Your submitted EoU Assessment response will be checked by electronic or other means for the purposes of detecting collusion and/or plagiarism, therefore it is important you respond to the questions using your own words.

Do not expect to have time to look up resources during the EoU Assessment as this will slow you down and may mean you dont respond to all questions.

Structure and formatting

Include any workings in your response. As this is an EoU Assessment, it is not expected that you will use external references in your response. However, if you do use external sources you need to cite them according to APA7 referencing conventions.

Topics

The Open-book Timed Online EoU Assessment could assess all topics covered in the unit.

Submission

You must submit your work as a single Word document into the relevant Dropbox on the units CloudDeakin site.

You will have 2.5 hours from the time of the release of the EoU Assessment to upload your response into the relevant Dropbox. The Dropbox will close at this time and it will not be possible to submit after this time.

If you experience ongoing IT issues during the EoU Assessment, contact the IT Service Desk online or via phone please ensure you record your ticket number the IT Service Desk will provide as evidence of technical difficulties:

Internal phones: 888

Off-campus: 1800 463 888

International: +61 3 5227 8888

If you have completed your EoU Assessment but experience difficulty uploading your response to the Dropbox on the unit site, you should email your response to the unit chair at emilia.bellucci@deakin.edu.au, before the deadline, as evidence of timely submission, as well as contacting the IT Service Desk. Use EoU Assessment submission as the email subject.

Preparation

A reliable internet connection is vital for the EoU Assessment. You will also need to have the appropriate computer hardware for downloading the EoU Assessment, completing the EoU Assessment and uploading it to the CloudDeakin Dropbox on the day of the EoU Assessment.

If you do not have access to a computer or the Internet, subject to COVID-19 restrictions, there may be limited availability to sit the EoU Assessment on campus.

The best way to prepare for the Open-book Timed Online EoU Assessment is to:

Know the unit materials thoroughly. Your knowledge will be deepened through regular attendance at seminars where youll have opportunities to ask questions, to test your knowledge and to learn from others.

Complete the revision as recommended by the unit chair.

Before the EoU Assessment, think about the content covered in the unit. Think about the type of questions which could be asked and prepare notes related to those questions.

Note that you are unlikely to have access to e-textbooks provided through the Deakin Library during your EoU Assessment due to licensing constraints, therefore, you should prepare your own study notes in advance.

This Open-book Timed Online EoU Assessment contains problem-based, not research, questions. You can base your answers on the course materials as provided and you are not expected to look up other resources. If you do cite other sources, ensure you reference them correctly.

Working and Submission details

You must keep a backup copy of the EoU Assessment response you submit until results are released.

You can make multiple submissions within the 2.5 hour period (but you do not have to). All submissions will be retained. The submission that will be marked will be the final submission made by the submission due date/time.

When you submit your response in the Dropbox on the unit site, you will receive an email to your Deakin email address confirming that it has been submitted. You should check that you can see your submission in the Submissions view of the Assessment task Dropbox folder after upload, and check for, and keep, the email receipt for the submission.

We expect you to take responsibility for submission. As such, late submission is not possible. If you fail to upload your response by the deadline, your response cannot be marked. No late submissions will be accepted.

Once the EoU Assessment is released the unit team is not permitted to answer any further questions about it. If you feel there are errors or other issues on the EoU Assessment, you should briefly explain in your response any such issue and how you have dealt with it in your response (for example, any assumptions you have made about the information provided).

Discussion boards on the CloudDeakin site will be closed 24 hours before the EoU Assessment.

You should not contact the unit team about the EoU Assessment during or after the EoU Assessment unless you need to email your submission to the unit chair due to a technical issue uploading to CloudDeakin.

You may apply for Special Consideration if you think your circumstances require reasonable adjustments via the faculty portal. Information is available from this site:

https://www.deakin.edu.au/students/studying/assessment-and-results/special-considerationDo not contact the unit team regarding any extension for this task. If you feel there are circumstances beyond your control that have affected your ability to complete this EoU Assessment, then you must apply for Special Consideration via the faculty portal.

Academic Integrity

All Deakin students are expected to act with academic integrity accordance with the student academic integrity policy and procedure.

This means you must submit your own work without input or assistance from anybody else.

Your submission will be checked by electronic or other means for the purposes of detecting collusion and/or plagiarism.

For more information about academic misconduct, special consideration, extensions, and assessment feedback, please refer to the document Your rights and responsibilities as a student in this Unit in the first folder next to the Unit Guide of the Resources area in the CloudDeakin unit site.

Assessment Feedback

Results will be released as per the T1 University calendar.

Marks and written feedback is not provided on EoU Assessments.

You can make an online appointment with the unit chair to receive feedback on your EoU Assessment following the results release for T1 2024.
