You are required to create a poster presentation on a topic related to the module. You will present your poster at a student conference at the end of the term, followed by a Q&A session.

The poster presentation is worth 60% of your overall module grade.

Poster Assessment Task

For your poster, you should explore and critique an ethical issue related to business sustainability, corporate social responsibility, or the impact of business on people and planet.

Some potential topics could include:

Fast fashion and unethical labour practices

Greenwashing and disingenuous sustainability claims

Business roles in perpetuating or reducing inequalityExtractive industries and environmental justice

Ethical issues in global supply chains

Improving diversity and inclusion in business

Promoting ethical leadership and corporate governance

Poster Creation Guidelines

Content:

Choose an ethical business issue related to people, planet, and/or profit to analyseProvide background information on the issue and relevant contextDiscuss 3-5 key module concepts/theories relevant to your issueCritically analyse the ethical responsibilities of business in relation to your issue

Present 2-3 well supported recommendations for how businesses should address this issueDiscuss implications for stakeholders and societyInclude relevant data, statistics, and examples to support analysisThe poster should showcase your ability to apply module knowledge to a real-world ethical dilemma. Please ensure you cite sources appropriately using the UWS Harvard formatPoster Design:

Create a poster, ideally using one power point template given on the moule aula page.

Organize into logical sections with clear headingsUse relevant images, graphs, charts to visually communicate key informationEnsure content flows logicallyMake effective use of space while keeping some open areasChoose a professional template and colour schemeUse combination of bullet points, short paragraphs, and visuals

Make key points and titles stand outUse Arial font style varying from 32pt (titles) to 24 with a 1.5-line spacing (general text)

2 minutes for questions and answers

Submission:

Submit final poster PDF on Turnitin prior to the conferenceBring printed poster to the conference venue (TBC) for presentation

The exact time and location of the conference will be shared with you later.

The conference will take place in the last two weeks of Term 1. This will be during week commencing 27th November 2023 and 04th December 2023.

Poster Conference Format

Conferences will be held in lecture halls at the end of term (exact time and location details will be shared later)

Each student will be assigned a time slot for their presentation (5 mins for presentation and 2 mins for Q&As = 7 mins for each student)

You must arrive for the dedicated time slot. You need to remain seated until you are called for presentation. You cannot leave the room after your presentation. You can only leave when a block of poster presentations is completed.

Students should arrive 10 minutes before their allotted time.

Set-up:

Posters will be displayed around the room.

Presenters will stand by their poster to deliver their presentation and answer questions.

Presentation:

You will have 5 minutes to summarize the key points of your poster.

Try to highlight the most important information and capture the audiences attention.

Speak slowly and clearly and maintain eye contact with your audience.

Be prepared to answer questions about your topic for 2 minutes.

Assessment:

There will be 1-2 tutors and fellow students assessing each presentation. Peer evaluation will be performed. However, final grades will be decided by the tutors. They will score you based on the presentation rubric. Q&A responses will be factored into the presentation scores.

- Demonstrates good understanding during Q&A and responds well to questions

A3 (70-79%) - Very good poster covers key information

- Shows ability to apply ethical concepts and frameworks

- Presentation provides good overview of the poster

- Rehearsed delivery though may lack some engagement

- Answers Q&A questions reasonably well, with some room for improvement

B1 (60-69%) - Between good and very good poster, lacks some visual impact but covers main points

- Analysis of ethical issue is reasonable but could be expanded on

- Straightforward presentation delivery from notes

- Lacks confidence during Q&A and has trouble elaborating

B2 (50-59%) - Good poster presentation but provides limited analysis

- Mundane presentation delivery, lacks audience engagement

- Struggles to provide in-depth responses during Q&A

C (40-49%) - Poster presentation shows minimal to limited analysis

- Poor presentation delivery, reads directly from notes

- Unable to adequately answer questions during Q&A

D (30-39%) - Poster lacks sufficient detail and contains incomplete information

- Very poor presentation delivery

- Insufficient grasp of topic shown in Q&A responses

E (0-29%) - Fails to provide meaningful or relevant detail in poster

- Presentation shows no preparation

- Unable to answer basic questions on topic
