Thepurposeofthisassessmenttaskistousethecase-basedstudiestoestablishtheholisticnatureofnursingcare within the group situation.The task requiresyou towork though the case scenario, stopping at thevarious learning block to consider the responses, for each, with the information you have, before moving through to the next information. Similarly, to the situationsyou findwithin the clinical setting, these case-based studies requireyou to identifywhatyou knowabout the person, and to identifywhat informationyou need to know, asyouwork though the case.
Forthesecasestudiesyouwillberequiredtoworkasateamtodiscusseachphenomenon,asitariseswithinthePBL, andformulateacare/recoveryplanandaddresstherequirementssetoutforthefinalaspectsofthePBL.
PBL1requireseachgrouptosubmitonecare/recoveryplan,thataddressesissuesarisingfrombasedontheinformation withinthePBL1forCatherine.Thepapershouldincludeabriefintroductionandsummaryaddressingtheseissuesanda brief plan for Catherines reintegration home following an inpatient admission.
PBL2JulierequireseachgrouptosubmitacareplanwhichyoudevelopedatLearningBlock2(page6),andany revisionsyoumadetothiscareplanasyouworkedthoughthePBLandrespondtothequestionsdetailedonpage11of thePBL2.ThesubmissionmustincludethecareplanyoudevelopedattheLearningBlock2,includingyourrationalefor interventionssuggested,anyamendmentstothecareplanthatyouconsiderasyouworkedthroughtheLearningBlocks 3 & 4, and a discharge plan forJulie.
Theaimofthisassessmenttaskistore?ectnotonlytheclinicalskillsaroundplanningcareasyougatherinformation, buttoorganiseandcoordinatecarewithotherhealthcareworkers(whomaybeonlineandoutsideyourorganisation)to effectively work together to develop care packages for individuals.
Fromweek4ofthisunitstudentswillbeplacedintogroupsofupto8forthediscussionboardandtoworkon AssessmentTask2-PBL.Theassessmenttaskisdividedinto2sections(PBL1-Catherine;andPBL2-Julie).
WithineachofthePBLsyouareaskedatvariouspointsinthepackagetorespondtothismaterialintheformofideas, re?ectionsandhypotheticalclinicalnursingresponses.Thisshouldbedonewithineachgroupviathediscussionboard, creatingatrueclinicaldiscussionspacetoshareideas,questions,thoughtsandpractices.
In this task, you will need to work together effectively to:
Work through the PBL Package via MyLO, and respond to the various points of the package nDevelop a plan of nursing care for the hypothetical case scenario and Write a brief discussion paper outlining the rationale/s for the intervention/s outlined and development of the nursing plan used.

Studentswillbeallocatedatrandomintogroupsofbetween7-8studentsinweek4ofthesemester.Theunit coordinatorwillinformyouofhowtoaccessyourgroupallocationandwhengroupsareconfirmedviaMyLO. Onceyou have been allocated a group,youwill need to make contactwith othergroup membersvia the discussion board to arrange a meeting to work through the PBL. EachgroupwillbeallocatedasharedfileinOneDrivewhichstudentscanmakecommentofasyouworkthrough the PBL.The unit coordinatorand staffmemberallocated toyourgroup formarkingwill have access to this file to establish the contribution made of all members of the group upon submission. |

Inyourgroup,decideontheroles(thesemayinclude,onepersontoorganisecommunicationwiththegroup, settingupmeetingsandtakenotes;acare/recoveryplandevelop;allocationofinterventionsforgroupmembers toproviderationales;agroupmemberassignedtoproof-readandsubmitthetaskthroughthesubmissionportal on behalf of the group), and plan contributions. Referto the Group Contribution Form forPBL1 task. Thetasksshouldbediscussedandsharedequallyamongstthegroupsmembers.
